Appreciate it. Yeah, I run a tire shop, so I'm always comparing the specs when I'm bored lol. I really like the new Geolander AT4s, but they're only available in 17s.

My geolandar g003s wore so shitty I won't take a chance on them again. Perfect alignment rotated every 5k km and cupped like crazy. My 285 at4ws are wearing perfectly. I wouldn't mind trying a set of studded g017s for my winter setup. Been tossing around the idea of getting a set of 17in scs f5s for winter.

    Working on it!
What PSI are you running on the street with the Falken Wildpeak AT4/W 255/85R16's? On the sidewall it says 50 PSI, so I inquired Falken about this and this is their response:

"Your OEM Size (265/70R16 112 SL) has a load capacity of 2,149 lbs. @ 30 psi. per tire.
Passenger type tires are fitted with a 10% overage in load capability when used on SUV's, Light Trucks, and Vans because of the difference in load handling. This load overage can be removed when changing to an LT type tire, that brings the effective load capacity to achieve down to 1,954 lbs. per tire.

The new size (LT255/85R16 112/109 C) has a load capacity of 1,958 lbs. @ 36 psi. this is the recommended air pressure for everyday use."

    36PSI it is!

Looks good. Suspension? Any cutting/trimming needed? Did you run without spacers a bit or jump straight into them?

I ran 255/85r16s for 3 years with the same config without spacers. No rubbing anywhere including off road. I do have some rubbing on the plastic when reversing at full turn and full compression head on but that's insignificant, I think.

I have icon rxt stage 2 and elka 2.5s in the rear and ADS 2.5s set to 2" up front.

Thanks for the info. Been going back/forth on what my next tire will be. I was worried the 33 skinny might look too skinny, but looking at Falkens spec sheet the SL265 is only .2 inches more wide the the 255/85/16.

Honestly think I’ll go 265/75/16 SL again and upgrade to skinny 33s if/when I lift the truck. I’ve read so many back/forth posts on running with lift vs no lift on the skinnys (I don’t want to do cutting/trimming).

Edit: and I know a lift won’t help fit them any better. More worry along the lines of if I actually cycle the suspension and room in wheel wells.

I just had 265/75r16s on. They can rub too depending on which wheels you have. Bottom line is both are absolutely fine on the stock trd wheels or stock steelies. My spacers essentially make a -15 offset. Vs +23 stock. Anything on the plus side of 0 is fine. If you're just using them around the city, it's even more fine. I have stock UCAs and wheels. They don't come close to the cab mount. It's literally just the inner plastic. Which, again, is not an issue without spacers.

255/85r16 33 inch spare hoist relocation. There are other dedicated threads but here's my Wildpeak AT4W under the bed.

requires a 12mm crescent/ box-end wrench. Speed wrench would be better. My 1 inch Toytec body lift allowed me to get a regular socket over the bracket to remove the hoist.

Drilled a 2nd pair of holes back toward rear of truck. Filed smooth and sprayed with black gloss rust oleum. Anti seize on the hoist bolts and Corrosion-X Red all over the hoist itself and chain.

Bashed the tire mount tabs/ears/arms back to nearly flat with medium dead blow hammer. Tire touches the driver side leaf spring hanger and the rubber exhaust grommet. I can fit my hand between the tire and the exhaust pipe and the factory heat shield is there. Rear diff should clear the tire during big droops or hard landings.

Installed these wildpeaks a few weeks back. Coming from a 33x12.5, I never considered how much a skinnier tire would improve ride quality. Way nicer to drive now.

I also weighed mine when I got them and got little bit higher of a number and I believe mine is more accurate as I've tested this bathroom scale against a ton of other scales (e.g. accurate scale at my gym and postal scales for shipping large packages). See quote below from my original post in the thread regarding the AT4W:

Love the idea of shifting the hoist rearward. I was able to get mine in there without doing this but I do get some rubbing on the diff. If I try hard and get it positioned right I can get it not to rub but it seems to be tough to consistently get it positioned correctly. Moving the hoist would be a huge help.

Apologies if some of this has been answered, I have looked through quickly but there are… alot of pages lol.

I am looking to upgrade to 33’s on stock OR rims, currently have Elka 2.5’s on.

is the tire size comparison website right in that I will get more of a lift (ever so slightly) out of a 255/85 R16 (wildpeak at4) than I would out of a 285/70 R27? And almost a full inch over stock tire size?

anyone go for skinny tires and regret it? I want 33’s but not feeling like paying $1500-2000 for a new set of 17 inch rims so figure this might be the way to go.

seems consensus is some people rub and need cmc and some seem fine?

Most importantly, would love to see more pics

Tire size comparison websites are helpful, generally. But what you’re asking requires a higher level of precision. Tires usually aren’t the EXACT size represented by the size they’re labeled as. Go to the manufacturer’s website and check their specs, they will list the TRUE, physical size of the tire.

But, you should also realize that the measured size is also somewhat dependent on the wheel size the tire is mounted on. You could take the same tire and put it on a 6” wheel then a 9” wheel and the measured size will vary slightly.

That’s really getting into the minutia and often not all that relevant. But for your task you should use the manufacturer specs and not nominal tire sizes in a generic calculator.

IMO, skinnies don’t look quite as good as fatter tires. If you want that big, beefy truck look then you want wide and fairly low offset. Personally, I did my best to not let aesthetics affect my decision. So I don’t regret the choice to run skinnies. IMO, the benefits outweigh the aesthetic shortcomings.

You shouldn’t need a CMC. But, yes, everyone’s results are different. I get a tiny bit of rub with mine. If I spent some time I could probably dial that out but time can be hard to come by.

Between tires of different makes/models being slightly different sized, different wheel widths, different wheel offsets, different alignment specs and a multitude of other minor factors everyone’s situation will vary. You absolutely cannot say, unequivocally that they will rub or not because everyone’s setup with is unique - yes, often if you’re even using same specs and mods. The differences won’t be huge but they exist.

Mounted up 255/85R16 AT4Ws to 16x8 TRD pro wheels (I believe the offset is 13mm vs the stock TRD OR of 25mm). My 2006 has 5100s set at the 3rd clip (1.75") with OEM spec Eibach coils.

Any bumps while turning resulted in severe rubbing on the bump on the front mudflaps - I needed to remove them. If you never go offroad, this will probably be adequate. I also trimmed the inside/bottom edges of the flares just to be sure for when situations like this came up:
    C0059.jpg

I had plenty of clearance to the UCA and cab mount. I will note that I kept my front sway bar in as this is my daily. I had very slight rubbing on the leading edge of the rear flare, but only at full compression.

    20250830_130217.jpg

So far I'm very pleased with these AT4Ws. I prefer the road feel to the 265/75R16 G015s, and they left me wanting nothing on my break-in run at Ardbeg South. Hardly noisier than the G015s as well. I hope to get many kilometres out of these.

Its new tire time, and I'm looking at getting a set of Falken Wildpeaks AT4's 255/85 16. I was hoping to get y'alls option if ill need a CMC.

Suspension: Dirt King 2.0 kit with Dirt King upper control arms. The coilovers are set at 2" in the front and I have 1" block in the rear.

    Wheels: 16x8 0 offset.

I figured I would have to do some trimming, but was hoping to avoid the CMC. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You should be fine, I don’t rub with my TX Baja (0 offset) wheels on my truck, with the same tires. I had to trim on my second gen to fit, but the third gen clears just by taking mudflaps off. I have a bilstein 5100 lift with about the same specs as you

Do you have spacers? The TX Baja (TRD faux beadlock) wheels are 16x7.5 +10. His 16x8 +0 will sit ~16mm further outward - which theoretically increases the chance of rubbing.
