That's awesome Matt. When it comes to talking to a current boss you need to remember how they would treat you should they fire you or more so how they've treated you the entire time you've been employed with them. If its good than be cordial, if not then...

Hes actually a good boss. But they don't offer any benefits. And the season is only 8 month. And after my current hospital stay i kinda really need some benefits.

Its probably the first time I've been nervous to put in my 2 weeks. Any other time I'd be like fuck this I'm out.

And hopefully he keeps my nephew on. But I have a feeling he will let him go since I won't be here anymore. Cuz let's be honest my nephew is a dumbass. Its his second season doing this and still makes the same dumb mistakes

    Congrats Matt!

Do you feel like you will leave your boss in the lurch?

That's too bad about your nephew.

You've mentioned that place couldn't survive without you...are you feeling guilty?

Like you said, you need health insurance...which is your priority.

Try not to feel too bad...you gotta take care of you! :curls::muscleflexing::militarypress:

    HELL YEAH!

Wise advise, at least be polite. As a former leader of mine once said regarding an issue I had with a manager in another unit, "you never know who you will work with or who your manager is going to be tomorrow"

Frame it that way. Something like "this is a hard choice because I do enjoy the work and you've treated me well, but I need XYZ and that's forcing my decision". Insurance is a big deal especially nowadays.

You're giving him 2 weeks notice. That's more than you would be getting if the shoe was on the other foot. In reality a job is really just a mutually agreed upon deal where you're trading someone else your time, knowledge, and skill for money and/or some type of benefits. You've been fulfilling your end of the deal. He's not making efforts at improving things for you. Ultimately you need to get more out of a deal than he's offering or willing to offer.

You've helped your nephew and got him an opportunity. It doesn't come across like he's making the most of it. Perhaps this just isn't the right career path for him.

Good luck at the new gig!

As far as my nephew goes. Hes a good kid but he has zero drive he's nothing like me. I feel some kids of his generation just don't understand hard work like they are expecting a hand out. And unfortunately the real world doesnt offer that. Also I appreciate everyone's feed back. I don't even get that good feedback from some of my closest friends I just get that's good. So thank you everyone for the kind words of encouragement.

    Hey Matt, @Tatts521

I fully get what you mean by this younger generation...I work on Dover AFB and interact with lots of Airman who are as old/younger than our adult daughters. (35 & 30)

We older gentleman (I'm the youngest) working on the other side of the wall do lots of comparing when it comes to our work ethics. (Ages 58, 60, and 65)

It's frustrating that for as much mentoring as is given to younger folks, some don't take the bait/apply the knowledge presented--they acknowledge but forget what was learned.

I've been at this job for 18 months now and take things with a grain of salt when it comes to repeating past Training Lessons.

Applying a bit of humor and positive/happy enthusiasm gets me focused on the 5-15 minute encounter/interaction with Airman.

The young kids think I'm cool...at least that's the vibe I get.

In any case, press on/transition with your new job and slowly leave behind your old one.

Anyone have any experience with this brand ? Can't believe how cheap for a 85. Kind of worried it will be to big for the living room.
