2nd Gen Rust...WTF?

Opened my drivers side door today and this caught my eye! My last 2 Toyota's did not have rust probs at all like this. I was looking at a write up on an electric pop and lock and noticed in his pics significant frame rust. Maybe their will be another buy back?

 

where its bolted on to the door? or on the hinge itself?

 

This looks like a hinge pin with normal wear.
Clean it and lubricate it.

My understanding is that is NOT your truck, just a pic of a hinge that you saw when researching a mod....correct? Ok, It almost looks like some sort of lithium grease or a lube. There are no "bleed" marks or bubbling of the paint.

Maybe my view is different than yours.

Just an observation, not a slam.

This will have to be watched.

I understand that its a hinge pin and wear and tear. I have had 4 other toyota trucks. Not one of them produced rust in this area. Every time I clean my truck i wipe all this down with a cloth. On previous trucks I have used white grease and never had rust problems.

I understand rust is inevitable. This just seems so soon.

 

i'll be sure to lube that part of my truck up from now on!!! ..... but it def. doesnt look recall worthy

 

....you'll have that from time to time!!!

just use a lil moly lube....you'll be good to go!!

 

but there is prolly still MANY other parts of my truck that will have rust too..... lol, that i dont see

 

spray it all down....no wax needed!!! wd-40 bath!!!

 

Corrosion X works much better than WD-40.
