I considered the auto running boards. But here in the NE USA the salt and snow wreak havoc on the auto running boards. Dealers around here recommended against them.

Is this true for more traditional sliders or steps?

Thanks, I've really enjoyed the 3rd gen version, and am considering these when I get a 4th gen. I've liked the door ding deterrence.

I installed the TRD aluminum steps after I purchased the truck and I think they were worth every penny. It makes getting in and out so much easier. It also has the added benefit of blocking (some) rocks from hitting the side and it also extends out enough that it can help prevent door dings. :D

they’re like 5 inches wide. And as you look at the photo, you could see that it comes out like half the width of the tire. I can tell you by using it now for almost a week. I really do enjoy them.

I second what you’re saying I think they look great and they really helped getting in and out of the truck as well.

I was willing to purchase them, but some of the custom companies around here were totally talking me out of them, even though I was interested in purchasing them. They said in the New England weather with all the snow and salt that the motors were having a lot of problems

OP, if you decide not to install running boards you can install the 4th gen rocker protectors that come on the Pro trim level.

They not only protect the rockers they also hide the ugly pinch weld.
