Well played Creed I say. Let him be embarrassed in front of his family. Hard to say how you yourself would react to that until it happens to you.

I'm very cautious against this kind of thing as I'm sure most are. I regularly check my areas child predators list to see where they live. I think we should all remember that these predators put themselves in positions(i.e. church, school, little leagues etc) where they are around children. It always seems like you hear gosh Jimmy was a deacon or my ball coach I had no idea he was capable of that. These predators rarely stand out and are often finely tuned to blend in.

The dude may not be a pedo, he could just have a very odd way of thinking he's being nice. Either way, protecting your kids is priority #1, always assume the worst.

    Reserected from the dead.

    I'm confused.

Welding requires physical input. I just don't see a thief grabbing a welder, bottle or other various tools needed to go into business fabricating. Seems like a lot of effort for little gain.

It's not like their are a lot of fabricators looking for work. Most of us have a full dance card. I don't see a thief working this hard for my minimal pay.

So here was something new for me today.

    Before:

    20250610_184417.jpg

The other side obviously, it was the worst one so I tried it first, one hour & 45 minutes.

    20250610_184424.jpg

Once I got past the apprehensive phase where I was worried about messing it up this was kind of fun.

Mrs Greens car has foggy lights too but there is also moisture inside them so the seals are bad.
I bought new ones for $135/side.

The most important part of any of the kits is to seal after the restoration or they will quickly fade again as the factory sealants are no longer present.

you're not thinking like bad person. they're not looking to start a job or a career. they're looking for a quick buck, damn the consequences.

welders and bottles are heavy. there's plenty of scrap yards that take heavy metal items, no questions asked, and give cash in return. pawn shops also do some of that, depending on the area, though they're a little more regulated.

after the late 2010's, most scrapyards stopped the practice, but i used to get a lot of nice stuff out of the scrap piles. i'd bring 600-1,000 pounds of collected scrap in, and leave with 300-400 pounds of misc lawn mowers, weed whackers, etc that just needed a little TLC to get working.

The kit came with the sealant and very specific instructions on application.
I see you can also buy the activator and sealant separate for less money and use your own sandpaper & compound.

It had excellent reviews, so we will see how long it lasts. :notsure:

Morning crew y'all have a great day today. Made a trade with the machine shop yesterday morning. Broke a hook we had prying up a couple of 2x4's from a trailer floor. Took it to the shop and asked if the could fix it? The guy was cleaning his toolbox with out rubber liners. I said I'll trade you some rubber mats that we pulled out of a trailer for your toolbox. If you weld this. He came back 2x's for more rubber mats and our hook got fixed.
Thinking we made a pretty good trade.

Like others have said, they aren't looking to start a business. Some see stealing and selling IS a job :smack:
