The first step in the instructions for installing the bypass harness is to disconnect the battery. Which is good, I get why you should do that, but this alone will clear my error code. How soon will I know if the bypass has corrected my issue? On the next cold start? Or is there another way to test it?

From what I remember, as soon as I started up my truck, all codes gone and running perfect.

Every once in a blue moon, the P2442 P2440 code will pop up, that’s with the pressure delete kit installed…I’ll clear the codes and it’s gone.

@TegoTaco Are you saying you still get a check engine light and codes P2442 P2440 coming back every now and again, with all the bypass components installed? How about limp mode?

In a year, maybe once or twice. I’ve noticed it happens on the days where there’s a lot of moisture in the air when it does happen.

It does go into limp mode, clear with it with my ULTRAGAUGE and good to go.

@TegoTaco It does still go into limp mode occasionally or does not?

Mine went into limp mode once after install, I contacted Hewitt, they sent a new component, zero issues since.

Ok. Whew, thank you for clarifying. I was thinking that I need to get rid of this truck which is other wise in great condition. I'll provide feedback after the installation so it might help anyone else experiencing this.

Practice your deep breathing when installing the block plates…you’ll get it, don’t throw your tools.

I managed to get the Hewitt Gen2 bypass kit and exhaust block off plates installed on my 2013 Tacoma V6. It has corrected the engine light and limp mode. I drove the truck a lot on the day of the installation, and on the following morning after a cold start, no problems.

To get to everything I had to remove the air intake and disconnect the air hoses from the air pump to the air valves to push them aside. I tackled the block off plates first because they seem like the most difficult part of the process. Actually spraying the nuts with pb blaster was the hardest part. I used a miniature wrench and socket to loosen the nuts. The plates went in with relative ease.

The harness took a lot of reading and re-reading to make sure I connected it right. The only improvement to the instructions I would make is during the replacement of the factory AID in step 3. There's a factory plug that is not going to be reused, and there's a cap for that plug included in the Hewitt kit, but this is not mentioned in the instructions. The cap looks better than the recommended electrical tape.

Thank you @hewitt-tech you saved me a bundle.

The guy I know who installed this on his 2013-2015 V6 Tacoma ~2 years and 16K miles ago said it works perfectly and the truck has never thrown any SAIS codes since.

(He installed it as a preventative, before any SAIS problems cropped up.)
