TSS Front Facing Camera Failure (PCS, LDA, Automatic High Beams, Radar Cruise Control)

Hello, brand new 3rd gen owner here. I’m creating this thread as a reference for others who may run into the same issue.

After about 10-15 minutes of driving, ALL of my TSS systems simultaneously fail. Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Assist, Pre-Collision System, and automatic high beams all throw errors on the center dash that say “See Dealer.” I believe this is a separate issue from the TSS radar behind the front emblem, since the radar has nothing to do with Lane Departure or automatic headlights.

I have disconnected the truck’s battery and discharged the system by touching the positive and negative ends together, checked every fuse, and cleaned the windshield and front emblem. None of these helped.

I just removed, unplugged, and reseated the front facing camera, and noticed that the camera itself was crooked and may have been partially obstructed by the black paint around the windshield aperture. Additionally, when I unplugged the camera, it immediately threw the same codes I get while driving, which makes me think that the camera itself may have failed. I will post another update after the next time I drive it. Hopefully this fixed my problem!

Did the unit get tested before taking ownership of the vehicle?

I'd take it back to the dealership to have them evaluate...hopefully, a warranty is in place.

 

Except for AHB and LDA, I believe. Neither of those require the radar from what I understand.

I purchased through Carvana, and it does have a 100 day limited warranty that covers this. However, I’m fairly certain that the unplug/replug and reseat worked. I tried out all of the TSS systems and none of them failed on a 15 minutes drive. Remains to be seen whether it would just fail later in the drive, but it seems all good for now.

 

Looking at Owner's Manual for Automatic High Beam (AHB) and Lane Departure Alert (LDA). Both utilize the Camera to operate but does not mention the Radar.

 

Yep yep! It makes sense then that the camera was the issue. Hopefully a longer driving test will reveal whether there’s any issue after resetting the camera.
