Has anyone used the Icon delta joint in a LT setup? I really like the idea of a sealed bearing for maintenance and noise.

Price. You can buy 3 pairs of uniballs for the cost of a pair of 1" delta joints. I'd imagine that's why you don't see them in LT applications. Cool design though

The wife and I were just talking about this over Memorial Day as we were cruising around in her 4runner which looks very unassuming to the untrained eye but has rear bypasses. Wonder how many people we drive past know why it makes so much noise, or think something is rattling itself apart lol.

At least with the factory top eyelet you can’t even really hear them with the windows up.

I’m on 35’s, but the Holley MPG gauge is comical in how efficient it thinks you are. I don’t even know what it really is. Maybe I’ll check next time I drive it.

Mines pretty true to the math
I get crap mileage in stop and go
But mostly because I’m running 91 in a 93 build… so anything over 45 this behaves like a civic on spray

That's a fair point. I wonder if Timken/NHBB/SKF/Moog/etc have something that's "better" than the standard uniball but less expensive than the delta joint.
Or who is building the delta joint for Icon. I'm almost certain they're not doing it in house.
Sometimes... quiet is nice too. Still a DD without a cage.

A lot of us have been down that road with the EMF joints which had some failures. It’s hard to beat the strength and cost of a uniball. Nice part of them not being sealed is you can tell when they need to be lubed/replaced. There really is no free lunch with "sealed" or "maintenance free" parts for prerunners. Race truck parts are usually designed for all-out strength and not as much longevity because how often stuff breaks. It's us here who dual-sport our trucks on the street (Or us prelanders) that ask for longevity. Just boils down to where you want that performance line to be.

JD fab's JD joint looked pretty cool, but I don't remember if that fit the 1" uniball footprint. And honestly the ICON Delta joint is cool trying to match the strength of uniball while being somewhat sealed, just seems like you pay a lot for a service life that you can't quantify due to specific use-cases. Compromising strength more than that, doesn't seem worth it.

Sizing up a uniball is probably the best option for added longevity. My lsk upper control arms have a 1.25 uniball, which is a bit stiff when they're fresh, but a fairly big increase in durability even daily driving in northeast winters

    Actually it was morbid curiosity
My trans is starting to slip and is hanging out at like 198 when I’m sitting in traffic
Trying to convince myself to keep limping it for a few more months before asking my guy to pull it.
Need to sell some of these damn parts first

Why would you say that is? More surface area, perhaps? :notsure: I haven't looked, 1.25" allow for more angle too, correct? Obviously besides other issues (like the tie rod and CV on four-by trucks if travel is increased on kits with arms narrower than 4.5+), wonder why most kits are 1". That LSK setup is super nice.
