I couldn't wait to get rid of mine. Good riddance to you and the 3G.

I know this horse has been beaten to death, but I was a little skeptical of the 4th gen when it came out. Now that it has had a little time to age, it seems like it's going to be a winner from a reliability standpoint and just the overall package. After the really minor teething issues with a few early batches, I haven't seen anything dramatic that would steer me away.

The 3.5L V6 in the 3rd gen has shown that it's reliable but also that it is no angel in many ways. The 4th gen is overall a better truck than the 3rd gen, and that's to be expected...it shouldn't be surprising to anyone. I say that as the owner of a 2021 that I expect to keep a few more years since it's paid off.

Now that dealers are willing to budge on price, seems like a lot of folks are getting 5-10% off MSRP without trying too hard, the cost isn't totally unreasonable or out of line for what you get. There are a few annoyances with 'niceties' locked into higher or halo packages, but overall not too much to complain about from my perspective.

This is exactly what Honda ridgeline owner wants! Tacoma bro against Tacoma bro.
Every Tacoma gen has its merits and every Tacoma gen can be built up badass.

I think it’s still too early to declare the 4th gen reliable.

If you're going to move to a 4th gen, why not do it while used autos have a better trade-in value and before your 3rd gen depreciates even more?

I'm with you 100% on the color choices. I ended up going with Celestial Silver on my 4G because it was the best of the worst...but it has grown on me. I also would have bought an Access Cab Long Bed with a manual if they still offered it! Getting the DCSB was my one big regret with my 3G.

Bronze Oxide in particular bothers me because I wanted to like it based on the early press photos, but in person it's got wayyy too much yellow in it.

 Like my dad used to say “That’s why they make Fords and Chevys”. Or as an old car salesman once told me “there’s an ass for every seat”.

Yeah, I should have phrased that differently. Let's say a similar or lower number of issues as compared to early production Tacomas of prior generations.

I loved my 3G. I loved 4G. It's hard getting past the 4 cyl only thing though.

I own a 3rd gen and it’s the best. If I owned a 4th gen it would be the best.

How do you all compare the interior plastic quality between 3g and 4g? The thing I hated most about my 3g (a truck I overall liked) was how quickly the plastics would permanently scratch. I've never had another vehicle that had that issue.

Waiting on my 4th gen Taco. Presently driving a 5th gen 4runner which has no such issue.

All the Toyota's I've had have had this problem with the whiteish scratches everywhere you scrap a shoe or something on it. I've only had my '25 for a couple months so not sure if it's going to be the same. It's always bugged me as well, but I found something that I could use to make it look new again, use this once a year and it really works to get rid of the dullness and little scratches: Adam's Black Trim Restorer | Faded Car Trim Restoration

    I've owned every Tacoma generation.
4th gen is my favorite however, I prefer making V8 power from from
    a V8, not a 4 banger.

Imagine the 4.6L 32 valve as an option.
I would gladly pay $55k plus for one

That's actually an interesting point, my 4.6L V8 in the GX460 has only a bit more hp/tq, but that comes with an extra head, 16 more valves, 2 more camshafts, 4 more rods and pistons, substantially more weight...a lot more places to leak as well. Something to be said about an inline 4 (or 6) and its simplicity when it comes to longevity.

Considering a my hybrid has 326 hp and 465 tq I’m very satisfied with my 4 banger. These stats are V8 power.
