OEM Car Play Solution for 2016 and 2017 models

Carsync tech decoder issue. I installed the supplied jump drive to update my firmware, I waited until the glow stopped, then shut everything down and rebooted. To which I received this screen, it’s locked up tighter than a drum.. anyone have this issue? How did you fix it?

You ever get a solution? I've been having issues with mine too, different problems. Their tech support is sending me a replacement module altogether... Hope it helps. I'd reach out

 

Yes, customer support got back with me within the hour and said the included jump drive had an assortment of files for a variety of stereos. They then sent me the correct file, I removed said files from jump drive, and placed the ones they sent me onto the drive. Reinstalled per instructions and had it up within a few minutes.
Very happy so far, and everything seems to works well. Their support group was on the ball. I did a 500 miles round trip over new years, and liked the map/routing a lot. Simply mapped the route the night before on my iPhone and it launched in the taco upon startup. Wireless. I was able to jam to Sirius via the steering wheel controls, and still have the map on screen, full screen no less. It took some trial and error with the contrast settings and such, to get a good screen, but over all, much better than the encore 2.0 I had previously.
Hope ya got it all working.
Ohhh average speed was around 63MPH.. quickest I’ve ever done it.

 

I've had my CST unit for just over a year now. I don't recall being concerned about pinching a cable but it's been fine. I've used it on many road trips and absolutely love having google maps on the dash.

 

Just ordered and installed the carsync tech unit. I took a chance and kept the xm radio module connected. It was a bit tight getting everything back in there, but it all fit. It seems to work well except I can’t seem to get my OBD Fusion app to display. That was one of the high ranking reasons to get CarPlay. Anybody else have the same situation? My anytime backup camera works just fine.

 

The OBD Fusion app works for me but it only shows a list of 4 PIDs you have to set up in the carplay settings on your phone. It does not display your OBD Fusion dashboard on the head unit screen. Can you tell me what anytime camera setup you have? I have the carsync tech unit and I want to add the anytime camera mod with a front camera, but I want to make sure it is compatible with the carsync unit.

Just completed installation this AM- all pretty straightforward. I wanted to retain the XM unit, so I bonded it to the bottom of the CST unit with

$7 3M VHB 100x200mm~ (4" X8") Double Sided Foam Adhesive Sheet Tape 5952 Automotive Mounting Industrial Grade Very High Bond 5952 (1 Sheets 100x200mm)

3M VHB tape and a wrap of tape around the entire unit. It's a snug fit, but required no mods to the dash. I did _not_ need the longer XM cable available through CarSynchTech- the existing stock cable was long enough, so you can save yourself $20.

 

Exactly what I did. It’s a snug fit, but it’s all in there.

 

I just purchased a new to me 2016 DCBOR 6MT with the 7" display (non-JBL). I ordered the equivalent CARabc unit and am planning to install a front-end camera at the same time. Thank you all in advance for the documentation along the way!!

 

What is the difference between carsync tech and an Amazon unit other than the price?

front camera (since the AA unit has the input). I'll be the first to admit this wasn't a super easy installation, but that's mainly due to my choice to install a front camera, "since I'm already in there..."

Any who, can confirm the resolution is ass right off the bat and slightly worse than I thought, but not completely unusable. Sure makes the OE display look brand new though. I still haven't driven with the unit or lived with it for any time yet; just mocked everything up to see how it works.

Has anyone else on here done a front camera mod with a unit like this, and if so, does the steering wheel function work as anticipated? The users manual claims that I can long-hold the steering wheel "MODE" button to enter the front cam view, however, it's already bound to mute so it's not working right now.

already want to upgrade the entire head unit...

 

I can’t speak to that particular CarPlay unit. But I can say that I have that camera and it’s been solid for probably 5+ years. I have it with an anytime backup camera setup and it works with my car sync unit.

 

Thanks for the reply! Does the unit work with the steering wheel buttons, or do you have to manually access it?

My camera is wired properly and functions, but not from the steering wheel; you have to find it through the menu.

 

Steering wheel works just fine. Front or back. What’s nice about this unit is that the backup camera works as normal, but it also flips to the front camera for about 15 seconds when in drive after reverse. Works great for garage and lot parking.

Honestly, I figured all of these units were the exact same thing when I ordered, but now the company who sold it doesn't even have an email listed for customer service...

My interior is all back together so I'll leave it be for awhile, but might go back to the drawing board and troubleshoot that. Does the "Mute" not work then? If so, that's fine.

Also, can you point me towards a thread to do anytime backup?
