Lost Denali a few weeks ago, super sad day. Hasn't been the same. For anyone who has had a husky, it's very difficult at times. She did whatever the fuck she wanted lol. Kinda miss having to vacuum everyday and lint roll all my clothes. Miss ya floof IMG_4874.jpg IMG_4959.jpg IMG_4876.jpg534A6248.jpg IMG_5063.png

My friend lost his 4 year old lab to seizures. Vet said it was Soresto flea collars.

Put one on our mutt bout 3 years ago. It was on her about 48 hours before I removed it. Plain to see her not feel well. I've given flea baths without wearing gloves and was sick feeling afterwards. It might be called a prescription or medicine but if designed to kill something , will it discriminate ?

It's always heart breaking reading the losses :( When I lost Bella years back, It was hardest days of my life. She was the best. I love my current pups, but Bell was special.
She also fell while eating dinner, and had a massive seizure, later found out it she had a brain tumor, we only had a couple days left together. Huskies are a very special breed!

Well Vet called to say his bloodwork does indicate Cushings. They did a suppression test which should have kept his cortisol levels down. She wanted to start him on a medication called Vetoryl.

I told her I would like to get a second opinion before starting him on medication. Because I know pancreas issues, diabetes, or thyroid can also cause liver levels to be elevated. I just don’t want to give him anything and create more issues. So waiting to get in to specialist now.

Pic of the big baby in my lap because it’s current thundering here

If you are concerned about the various contraindications of different medications, do a bit of research, make a list of questions, and have a chat with your vet. Sometimes, there are alternatives with fewer contraindications. Vets have so much available to them these days too. Even changes in diet can mitigate issues.

    Good luck to you!

Its more that there are other things that should be elevated if it is Cushings. Not saying it couldn’t happen but everything I’ve read says ALP levels and other markers will be abnormal. His was ALT levels. Which from what I’m reading may be Copper Storage disease. That and if I started giving him the medicine above it could lower his cortisol levels too far the other way and he end up with Addison’s (adrenal crisis). Why I’d like a little more information.

Absolutely. That's the whole reason for Q&A with the vet.

just a couple of things tbh
as most of you know we have been struggling with our old girl lilly (if i can find a pic on my work pc ill post it lol) atm she is doing well okay? but as of late she has slown down more and gets more meds from the vet and she bounces back a bit.

sadly thou she isnt able to keep up with our 3 year old heeler and the heeler is getting rather sad she cant play anymore with lilly. my gf follows a thing on facebook for heelers that get found or dumped and are up for adoption. she found two that she asked me about if we could get for eevee to have a friend to play with and take some of the load off lilly. so currently waiting for the shelters to give us more info and pics. one shelter atm out in Wichita kansas has been a nightmare to deal with... but wait and see if they msg us back even thou i called asking but was told they wont answer and will call me back when they feel like it...

so this is kiwi she is an unknown age and weight but was dumped on the side of a country road sadly, my guess is she is about a year old. the worse part about this shelter is its a kill shelter...
    upload_2025-6-17_6-47-26.png
very pretty standard colors for a heeler. my guess might be off on age but who knows! big smile and even bigger ears!

this is kayak(seriously who comes up with shelter dog names??) she has the body structure of a lot of heelers we have had in our family but ive never seen one with this coat combination. so unsure if she is pure heeler or mix. but she is a 1 year old and unknown weight since they have not weighed her yet.

the gf wants to adopt a heeler closer to eevees age so they can get use to each other and play more since they will be around the same age and energy level. plus giving a dog a second chance at a new home. ive always gotten a dog from a breeder so this is new to me lol.

I'd like to introduce Astra our new little pup.

She is a 1 to 1.5 year old heeler Shepard mix? We are not exactly sure lol she was a rescue.

Hey there, sorry for the late reply, life has been busy.
My Mal will turn 9 in August, he had the white around is snout since about 2.

Sorry to hear about the tooth extraction, poor pup. And did you happen to implant a titanium tooth for replacement?
I hear they do that regularly these days.
