For me, I'm about 15 minutes from a reasonably large multi brand dealership. They're pricey but I can at least go look at things in person. Revilla store in Philadelphia is about 2.5 hours away and I've gone there a few times. Closest Cycle Gear was in Harrisburg about 15 minutes away but I was not really impressed with it. Too small and poorly located. I just buy online now.

I ran angel ST on my cbr back in the day. I thought they were easy. Fell on with no spoons, i think that was my first set of tires i ever changed.
Cycle gear kinda sucks anyways. I can appreciate there is a shop though

just a couple of things tbh
Ahh dang at least there is something close by but makes sense on why you order online.
I've always liked going out there tbh. But only when I want to buy something haha. I will say for helmets thou I think freedom cycles has a massive selection of dirt helmets. Dells has a good amount. Donnels has only a few... Which sucks I like donnels a lot more lol. Cycle plaza thou... I just don't like them lol

I know that place in AVL.
As far as the drain plug if he re-taped it it should be fine. Getting ready to re-tap my final drive soon. Just got all the parts in yesterday, along with the new larger size filler plug.

Best bike shop I've ever been to without a doubt is Iron Pony near Columbus, OH. Multi line dealership handling every brand except Harley Davidson and BMW. It's in an old Super K-Mart store and it's a literal Walmart for motorcycles. Only bike shop I've ever even seen that is broken into departments like a big box store. Women's riding gear, men's riding gear, kid's riding gear. Dirt bike, street bike, tires, consumables, you name it.

A little too far to just ride over on a whim. Probably 6 hours one way? We actually stopped on our way home during an Iron Butt ride to Michigan.

Oh ya I read the manual and you were right it's 32ft lbs on the drain plug for the tracer...

I always ride with a motorcycle jacket or my leather one for colder weather. I’ve lived in two states where helmets aren’t required. Always wear still. I’m covered head to toe. I wear old military boots. I’m bit big so finding gear that fits kinda sucks, sometimes I’ve just well “this will protect me” lol. I’ve been down once before in my 20 + experience. Worth it!! A few friends at work laugh, I just tell em I’ll never say after an accident wish I would have worn less lol.

upload_2025-6-13_4-11-15.jpgThe day I brought it home. I’ve already gone on a few adventures and poking forward to a few more this year. This thing rips. Usual mods done ,rad braces, skid plate, better dirt tires and wrap around hand guards. Also a bigger fuel tank. KTM 500EXC F

    None... yet.
 Man, I left it out in the sun, liberally applied Windex, AND used small blocks to keep the "already on" part in the drop center. Might have been a bit too enthusiastic with the chunks I was trying to lever over? I don't know but it's definitely one of those jobs where a third arm/spoon would be great!

32 ft lbs is way too high for that drain plug. No wonder the PO would have stripped it out and had to repair. Lucky he didn't break the sump tightening it that much. I would have thought by now Yamaha should have fixed that.

i take it the sump is right next to it then? ya idk why its set like that in the manual but man is it dumb... anyone else with a yamaha in here have a crazy high torque spec on a drain plug??

Beat you to it, checked online manual for your bike (2022 Tracer 9 GT) definitely says ft lbs. Wild.

haha ya i was reading on an online forum to make sure i was right and yuuup its a lot! a lot of people state if you get a new crush washer it will do it perfectly fine every single time... but even then thats still a lot for a oil pan...

Or you can just reuse the damned crush washer for several oil changes, safely, by not over-torquing the drain plug bolt like the manual wants you to do. My 2007 FJR had the same crush washer for at least 10 oil changes with no ill effect.

We had a great bike shop in Renton, just down the street from where I now work in Kent. It was a huge place full of all kinds of inventory. Even had a small MX track they'd run races on indoors. And between the track area and the sales floor (over the apparel and parts) was a Pub. Had great food, too. At some point the track got shut down, mainly due to noise and the complaints from the theater next door from my understanding. One day the whole place was just closed. Little 8.5x11 note on the door.

This top picture is mine from when I bought my YFZ450. Bought it for 5136.66 OTD, when the MSRP was 7099. No wonder they closed up shop, right?

This pic I found on Yelp. Looks like it was from the restaurant balcony. They had boats out the open doors you see in the back (still covered). I remember sitting on a quad and a sales dude walking over and hopping onto the one next to me. I said I was good, and he said don't worry, I'm just watching the game, as he watched one of the big screens up above us while obviously pretending to try and sell me something, lol. It was always laid back in there, was great.

Apparently Yelp is a good place for old pics! Here's the restaurant balcony. I so miss this place. I'd absolutely be a regular for lunch if it was still open.

The place is now a honda dealership... of the 4 wheels automotive type...

Thatd be a cool place. Bet a bar like that would do well.
