Thanks for your observations... they mirror mine on the ARB factory video clip, and how good Toyota's system is in our Off Road TRDs.

Well if you call the term "ATRAC Koolaid drinker" making fun of ignorance than I am guilty. For those that have no locker David has done a great, albeit a bit over zealous at times, job outlining the advantages and how to use it. Valuable contribution in my mind.

Now shut up and get on with it! :D

...and how many times have you and I wheeled? David put on a KILLER trip to Mexico leading a number of us into a land of the unknown. Made sure that everyone was doing well the whole time and was a real team player.

The Mexico trip and memories were priceless. Web wheeling on the otherhand... well.

Larry, once you have done this for a group of strangers, get back with me.

That's pretty accurate. I don't see the cost/benefit ratio of a front locker in my vehicle. If they were a couple hundred dollars plus install, I'd get one. At a grand or more, they don't add enough to what I already have to be worth it.

Someone cuts loose a used, ARB'd front diff for the right price, I might be tempted....

Don't get me wrong... I'd still like one, I just don't need it enough to pay full new retail.

    Thank you Paul!

I hope you will consider camping with us on Shell Island over Memorial Day Weekend! Deep, bottomless sand that front lockers won't help with (ask Art)... just low air pressure to float! A super relaxing weekend on the beach in Baja...

A week from Friday (on April 29) we are heading to Arroyo el Volcan, just beyond El Marmol to search for the Lost Mission of Santa Isabel... At least 3 Tacomas, and a Dodge Ram are going to be there... see thread on Baja Nomad for details. This is going to be a 2-4 mile (one way) hike trip after some 4 wheeling.

As you know, I don't just talk the talk... I use my Tacoma, too!;)

I also have never 'jumped' on Larry or the other A-TRAC 'haters' for anything they say about their Tacomas... Why do they feel the need to try and tarnish the system that Toyota uses for improved traction? Are they on ARB's payroll?

A-TRAC understanding is what brought me to start posting regularly here over a year ago... I have also shared many trip reports and had fun... I don't come to a forum to name others in a thread because I don't like that they talk about their Tacoma... Can't you guys find something fun to do, with your trucks perhaps???

    Stop being hosers...

Actually, David ... your explanation of all things A-TRAC / TRAC / VSC / Auto LSD / Locker has been one of the most valuable things I have read on TW. I'm one of those guys who drove an old beater truck into backcountry places for years, and had zero idea what the hell I was actually supposed to be doing LOL. Never aired down, never used a Hi-Lift, had no friggen idea if my truck had open or limited slip diffs. Never thought about it. If I made it there, it was good enough for me.

But then I popped for a new Taco with all these fancy new features (man I sound like my grandpa), and I admit it ... I was thorougly confused by VSC vs TRAC vs Auto LSD, and when to use A-TRAC or locker or both. Too many choices on these new trucks. But you were the guy who really stepped up and put it all together for a lot of us. So I give you props, brother.

Very cool of you to say this Bryan, Thank you! You probably know the story... my '05 lease was nearly up and there was a deal going on, so I got the '10... had not heard about then traction controls... I only cared about it having a REAR LOCKER (like my other two Tacomas)!

What a thrill to discover that not only did I have the rear locker still, but that I had the climbing ability of front lockers too... and it got me out of a deep rut that had both my rear tires in the air (I was resting on the diff. and spare)!

Only front lockers could get me out, as one front tire was over a rut, too!!! I was WRONG... The A-TRAC, with just one front tire (while I was pointed uphill) on firm ground pulled the truck free! :p

I wish I had color matched body parts. People laugh at my magenta penis and it hurts my feelings.

I wish you just understood that I am educating Tacomans who care to read, and who don't know... in a fun way, I hope.

My attitude is positive. I also don't use bad language, like you feel the need to with most of your posts...?

I am sorry. I want to be one with a good attitude. It is funny that some Sport owners think a fake scoop is so important... that's all. It is a looks vs. function thing... You have to spend more money to have better traction.

I am not down on 4WD Sport owners, most of the Tacoma guys around here are Sportos... and what I have learned from them is:

    1) THEY didn't know there was a traction system like A-TRAC in the Off Road, because the DEALER didn't inform them... They only were told that the Sport has the scoop and the OR has a rear locker (if even that).

    2) If they knew the Off Road did what I have shown it to do, they would have gotten it.

    3) For you to make a Sport climb or extract itself the same as an Off Road, you have to spend 1,000's of dollars.

I blame the salesmen for not selling the advantages of a Off Road Tacoma over a Sport Tacoma... for those who want the traction.

Yup! Hey OZ-T, are you paying attention?

See these are Americans pretending to be Canadians, so take off!

I call lots of people in the lower 48 'hosers'... it's not a Canadian thing only... okay, eh?

Im gonna say "BS" to this. I have SEEN you call the hood scoop an "Imparment to vision", and other silly statements, and now you seem to proclaim yourself as some kinda TRD Off Road Gahndi? If people want the sport, WHO CARES? I havent seen ONE post in which the OP says they feel jipped because they didnt get the off road......yet you seem to bring up all these people that wish they bought the Off Road? Where are they? Its been shown that a good driver in the Sport is just as capable off road as a driver in the TRD Off Road truck....
