Hey Guys, old thread here, just hoping to find some answers and purchase the right parts... I am looking to replace my rear shocks, and front ones as well. I wouldnt mind a little extra height with the new shocks install, whether with a lift block or something. I want to make sure that I say, I am not interested in a lift kit that will raise my truck 6inches or anything crazy. The truck currently sits higher than a base model, but a couple extra inches would hurt (insert Michael Scott "thats what she said" joke here). I simply want to replace my rear shocks and front, as it currently has the originals on there. I got 125k on the truck, I dont go 4wheeling, and I am looking for a softer less bumpy ride. I typically travel over multiple speed bumps for my job in the parking lot as well as at my place of residence, and I typically use my truck for work for winching people out of situations ( I work for a logistics company that deliver's Amazon packages). I looked into some parts from rough country that would run me under 1k, and I would be doing the install myself. I just want to make sure I am purchasing the right parts as I have read thru this thread and had some conflicting answers on a X-SPX Tacoma. I have included a checkout list link, if anyone could let me know that what I potentially am buying is the right stuff or not, appreciate any information. I am not the most mechanicall savvy person, though I know some things and have changed rear shocks on a truck before, next the front though.. https://www.roughcountry.com/checkout

You have to link to the pages for the actual products you're considering (we can't see what's in your checkout cart because that is all stored on your end).

Unless you're looking at something from Rough Country's Vertex line of shocks, I agree with the earlier comment to stay away from RC.
Bilstein 5100s are very popular, and according to what was posted earlier in this thread, should fit your XSPX truck no problem.
There's also the Bilstein 6112 (usually pared with 5160 in the rear) that are said to be a bit smoother than the 5100s, but both seem to get good praise. Both can be set up for any lift height between 0-2" as well.

https://www.roughcountry.com/product/configurable/toyota-suspension-lift-kit-742c this is what i was thinking. Question is this truck already techincally lifted with its current shocks set up and something like this would lift it up another 3.5"?? If i need to stay away from this set up, I will.. I am looking for a smoother ride with an option to be a little lifted than what it currently is..

Yeah definitely stay far away from that.
3.5" is waaayy too much lift without also having drop-down crossmembers... Ruins the CV boots, diff drop reduces clearance, and puts additional stress on the steering rack (forget about what it does to your ride quality).

The only things RC I might ever recommend are their Vertex shocks (since they can be adjusted down from 3.5" lift), and also maybe their 4" lift (because it has the drop-downs). There are much better options available for both (Fox & King shocks are far superior, and many places selling them (such as AccuTune Offroad) will also tune them specifically to your truck's weight for a better ride & handling... BDS is a much better option for suspension kits that have drop-downs).

https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/s...96BK-3_with_optional_AAL_-_Tacoma_96-04.html# i think this is what people are saying to get in this forum, and stay away from Rough Country.. Would this kit give a little bit more of a lift than what the truck currently has, or would a leveling be needed?

    That's for a 1st-gen Tacoma...

    Maybe you want this one:
    https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/s...47-309975_w/_Optional_5100_or_5160_Rears.html

    Definitely would recommend.
As for lifting it further, that depends on how much lift is on it now. This kit would replace what is on it now, and is capable of lifting it 2", maybe 2.5" (I wouldn't recommend going higher than that for the reasons I gave above).
