I wasn’t able to get any good photos because I was driving and we just kept on going and didn’t always stop until the top.

And then I also mounted it up. I put pink vinyl behind the logo to make it pop. The pink was because the powder coating guy joked about painting it pink she I thought it would be funny. It’s a dirt bound off-road rack with 18 inch uprights and the molle panels.it fits really well and literally rocks the whole truck with no movement in the rack.IMG_1183.jpg IMG_1172.jpg IMG_1182.jpgThe bud light box got stick on my leaf spring on the way home from bald mountain and had held on since.

Nice build. Love the DCLB conversion. Bed rack is a nice addition too.

Went on yet another trip to bald mountain. Every trip is a different experience. This time there was about 1-2 feet of snow. We had the same crew, just with a ranger instead of a jeep. The trail was covered in snow. As we were turning into where we usually deflate we were met with a bunch of snow and a full size Chevy struggling to make it through. After we passed him we had to go up the road a bit to deflate. The road up to the trailhead was a trail, with us having to navigate under a fallen tree just to pass.IMG_1943.jpg
We had to slosh through snow for a good while before making it to the normal trail. It was mostly slow going with a lot spinning wheels. IMG_1862.jpg IMG_1899.jpg
We went as far was we could, but ultimately had to turn around because the snow was getting to deep. As we were struggling to turn around and recovering our stuck vehicles a few Toyota truggys came down saying that we were not able to go further and that they were able to only go a short bit further. The leader of our group got stuck trying to push further and we had to recover him. The Cherokee made it through but 35s are cheating. My mom got stuck trying to turn around and I almost got stuck trying to get to a winching point. I made it after a bit and and was able to winch her out but got stuck backing back down IMG_1885.jpg IMG_1917.jpg
We worked our way back and went down the big rock. It was unfortunate that we weren’t able to go all the way but it was a great trip IMG_1897.jpg IMG_1912.jpg IMG_1858.jpg IMG_1929.jpg

Some major progress’s has been made! The bed is now silver and matched perfectly. Now the next step is to finally put something in the rack. IMG_2470.jpg IMG_2471.jpg

That’s a Patriot Campers x1 gen1. It is an Australian overland trailer brand.

It’s not mine, my parents tow it with their 5th gen 4Runner. But before I got it my neighbor towed his overland trailer with it and he said it would tow good just a bit underpowered and he had to install a trans cooler

Had an event coming up this weekend so I threw on some rock lights. I just got some cheap Oreillys ones and wired them into the auxbeam system. Turned out great though and gives off the perfect light.IMG_2624.jpg

Over this past weekend there was an event being put at bald mountain on by the local 4x4 club. It was the moonlight madness run and there was a bunch of different rigs. We started off the trip on Friday and drove up to see what’s up. We got there a bit late and found a camp sight just a bit away from basecamp. IMG_2669.jpg
We had the same group as we went with to bald mountain last time and we packed in this back corner down by a creek. We did nothing the first day but the second day we headed to basecamp to register and check out everything going on. The first thing I had to do on was replace the valve stem on the one of the tires because it got bent somehow. There were a few small vendors and a bunch of buggy’s. IMG_2677.jpg
    IMG_2682.jpg IMG_2688.jpg IMG_2690.jpg
We also got to meet some people from marlin crawler and ended up talking to them for a while before the beginning of the run. We also got a full tour of their 5th gen 4runner.
    IMG_2679.jpg IMG_2681.jpg
The night run came in after dinner and we lined up for the start. We started off behind a lancruiser a handover disco.IMG_2694.jpg
The run started off in daylight but ended up backing up after the first obstacle came up unexpectedly IMG_2830.jpg
It took a few hours to complete the trail and our friends broke their exhaust in the first obstacle. The ranger in our group had to take the winch of shame on the first obstacle.IMG_2706.jpg IMG_3539.jpg this was my first real excuse to run all the lights and I think it looked awesome. IMG_2831.jpg
    IMG_3543.jpg
We made it to posi and there was a huge event going on. I didn’t take many photos because I was too busy watching and our friend the stormtrooper (Cherokee) attempt at it. He wasn’t able to make it because he had some wiring problems earlier and his diffs were not working. After a while at their we headed up but there was nobody at the top so on our way down we had about a hundred rigs following us down the hill. We made it back to camp and spent a few more hours talking about the night before going to bed. The next morning was fairly uneventful and we just packed out and headed home.IMG_2778.jpg

How noticeable is the difference in turning radius with the long bed? Especially on the trails.

I’ve never driven it with a short bed, but I don’t find it much different than driving my moms 4Runner.
