Hi everyone and thanks for having me.
I’m looking at buying a 2020 Taco that won’t move. The seller says Toyota dealer says it needs a new frame. The sensors won’t let it move.
This baffles me. I believe it runs, but just will not move.
I know Toyota has frame rust issues as I had my Tundra frame replaced for free…long out of warranty.
But I have no idea why the frame or sensors wouldn’t let it move and why it wouldn’t by covered by Toyota.
    Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Best to look it over thoroughly or have a good mechanic check it out before you open your wallet.

My guess is that this wouldn't be a rusty frame issue, but more like a damaged frame issue. If it was in an accident or off roaded and damaged the frame it could have broken a diff, driveline, or something in the transmission that would prevent it from moving. It could be the transmission is locked in park and the little bypass needs to be used.

It's all complete speculation because your post doesn't have anything remotely close to enough detail to get a diagnosis. If you can get pics and more info there might be somebody on here who can help, but not off of the minimal info provided.

We can’t see your frame from here unless you provide the photos or video before we give you best suggestions. If you can’t then @TA2016 already gave you best suggestion.

Can you elaborate on the ‘little bypass’ ??
I have not physically seen this vehicle yet. But hoping to soon. Just looking to have a few things to try when I get there.

The little slot you see here. That piece pops off, there is a switch/button in there that needs to be clicked/flipped, and then the transmission can be shifted out of park after it does whatever safety stuff it does to lock up in the first place. I don't have a Taco anymore, but pretty sure it's covered in the manual, and I'm sure somebody on here has messed with it.

Here's a quick vid demonstrating it. This doesn't fix any issues, but it can let you shift it to neutral for loading it on a trailer or something.

Sounds like the seller is trying to take you and your wallet for a ride, or the seller knows as little as you about the Tacoma. Not trying to be harsh here just for you to be extremely suspicious.

We need a whole lot more info. Does it start? Are there codes? Was it in a wreck? Flood?
