How does this happen? Broke between the rings

 

What does the upper rod bearing look like, if it is visibly "different", then detonation. Sorry to ask, 14 pages is a lot to read, was there a leak down test preformed ever as part of the dianosis?

Leak down did confirm large leak in cylinder 6 into the oil area. Everything looks similar in looks except the back side of the piston head.

Combination of a shit tune & a SC.....
What could go wrong, bad news written all over it...
Its just a truck but you guys think theyre mustangs....
Furthermore I wouldnt under any circumstance but the heads back on without having a valve job done, inspected, etc.....

How the hell am I suppose to see a broken part in between the rings? The cylinder looks fine. Get out of here with your ignorance.

Looking at the piston skirt, maybe the cylinder looks ok but my guess is there has to be vertical scoring on the cylinder wall...

 

& you just proved it by showing pictures of the block, vertical scoring in majority of the holes...
You also stated you need a short block....
If the cylinder walls were "fine", why do you need a short block?

 

This is the broken piston cylinder. Hard to tell from photo but it's nice and smooth. No difference from the good cylinders.

 

I'd say it's easier to just drop 3k for a whole bottom end then buying pistons and sending the block to a machine shop. Probably 3k right there anyway.

 

At this point I'm just seeing what people think could have caused the break between the piston rings. Your comments are just ignorant.

 

Those vertical lines shouldn't be there...
Im sure some are worse in the inboard side of the cylinder which hard to see from the pics...
The SC & tune beat that motor apart...

Ive seen multiple similar scenarios where I was brought to court multiple times, owner trying to sue ford over warranty denial over exact scenario & lost...
This isnt the first time ive seen a modded sc engine & a tune with beat up cylinders...
fine line between a backyard build, tons of crappy tunes out there, half-assed fuel systems lead to catastrophic / motor eating itself...

You could it on the early stage, but the cause is the same....


Im not mother Theresa, ive modded engines & tune proper tunes...
Had a 14lb vortex on a 95 5.0 with stock bottom end / hypereutectic pistons...
Had the proper combination of everything & proper fuel system.....

 

You wouldnt have a broken piston if the SC & tune wasnt introduced....
