Toyota limits power to the front diff, C/D was testing in 4WD.

So the electric motor gave it a little boost to 60, but then petered out to achieve the same quarter mile time as the non-hybrid (presumably due to the extra weight).

I'll take Phyrric victories for $600, Alex.

Those were numbers for a 4R TH - 400lbs heavier than a Tacoma Pro, so...

Yes, the 5441-pound 4Runner was 0.4-second quicker to 60 mph than the 5561-pound Tacoma Trailhunter longbed.

I will put money on the table that a hybrid will beat a non-hybrid and an auto will beat a manual any day. But none of us bought Tacomas for their 0-60 or 1/4mi performance.

I’ll bet that you can barely feel the speed bumps at the mall with those exclusive iso-dynamic seats.

Mean? It’s just a joke. Are you overly sensitive for some reason?

Man, my block list is having a field day in this thread. Real banner crop here. Keep it up, thread derailers. More grist for the list.

I agree that the tractor posts went off topic, but the attempt to bash hybrids did serve the point of bringing to light that Toyota throttles power even more when in 4WD to reduce drivetrain damage due to the front diff being significantly smaller than the rear diff.

Autos are faster than the manuals. I didn't say they were the biggest gimmick ever or that they were worse by every metric - when in fact they are faster.

I heard they're working on some ruthenium spark plugs that'll add 2.6 hp across the board

What about Ranger Raptor compared to a hybrid Tacoma which is faster? Or hybrid Tacoma compared to Tundra TRD non hybrid? I think it would be fairly close as the trucks all climbed in weight. Manual vs auto, auto is going to be quicker, Toyota left the manual off the Tacoma Pro for a reason.
