Auto or manual? If its a manual, just DIY, that shits easy. If its an auto definitely go to Automatic Transmission Exchange(I know it sounds like they will just swap in a Jasper but thats not the case) on Washington St in downtown Phoenix. Been around for decades, have the type of knowledge and random ass parts for shit you thought were long gone and they are willing to take on oddball jobs. They hooked me up hardcore after another shop fucked up the 4wd swap on my RV transmission.

Thanks @Atl-atl , it is an auto. If it was a manual no problem rebuilt several, I tore into the auto and the overdrive planetary set grenaded, I've called a few shops and they won't touch it unless I bring.in the whole truck and all the parts, I'll give auto exchange a call, if they won't touch it, not sure, maybe a manual swap is my next step and if I do that I might as well swap in the solid axle sitting on the floor.

Buddy had an automatic Nissan Hardbody. Put like 200k on the auto trans and it died. He was just married and poor. all they could afford was to swap in a manual. And no - he didn't DIY it. Shop did all of the work to give him a standard transmission. Looking at it you would have never known he started off with an automatic. Just saying.... If you are swapping in a new one, maybe you can get one you can service in the future.

Considering one and looking up prices as we speak. I'd have to relocate an electrical line but easy enough.

I'm interested. Hopefully I'll have the truck back together by then!

With that said, anyone around Surprise (or willing to drive to) free next Saturday morning to help me pull the bed off the truck? Looking for maybe 2 volunteers.

Snake oil works much better. Just a little more expensive when store bought. Easier to source locally in the desert

Ive used it in many different engines including both of the 4.0s I had . It made quite a difference in the valve train noise from an 91 F150 I had for a short time

There are only three products I've found that work decently - none live up to their overblown internet legend status though...
    • Seafoam
    • Berrymans B-12 ChemTool
    • Lucas Upper Cylinder Lube and Cleaner

Do note that Berrymans is a bit on the harsh side and I would only use it on a road trip when you are going to be putting it in and then burning it off w/o it sitting in the tank for days.

When I run the High Octane and Lucas at the same time, I get Crazy Good MPG. Almost unbelievable. But the added cost doesn't add up to the savings on more MPG. Best case it breaks even. But I do run this on road trips too just for the convenience of extending my fuel stops. Then like an idiot, my knees make me get out every two hours anyway so I really gain nothing - lol. Not the products fault though.

I think for any long term gains on any of the products, you need to do three or four tanks back to back.

I do techron every 10 to 15K or so, but I have never actually done the "stick it in the intake and smoke out your neighbors" seafoam treatment.

Just putting crap together for my 60K service which I'm a few hundred miles from at this point. Not looking forward to pulling the shocks for a rebuild in this heat.:bananadead:
