Speeding in neighborhoods

 

these new cars with these bright ass LED headlights

 

When the guy in front of me runs the light. Then local LEO next to me doesn't do anything & I look over at him & make eye contact

 

another one for me. Im sure someone has already listed this one.
When im going to work and im stuck in traffic and I see all these people cutting into the carpool and they are solo. Im sure if i was to do that i would be getting pulled over in a heart beat

This is something I've noticed a lot more of in the last few years, and that something would be people either pulling out of side streets or pulling out in front of me when it is really not safe to do so.

Usually, it's people making lefts out of side streets and not accelerating to keep up with traffic. What's really annoying is that there is sometimes nobody behind me and the coast would be clear if they would just wait a few more seconds!

Right outside of my neighborhood, there is a fairly busy road, and a large neighborhood directly across the street. One time, I was going straight through the intersection and I had a green a light. A woman in a black Infiniti SUV was coming from my right and tried to make a right on red directly in front of me; I laid on the horn, and she stopped but gave me the finger. Once I cleared the intersection, she continued turning and pulled into the driveway of a house that was right there. I see that Infiniti in the driveway all the time, so I know she lives in that house. Like, you're seriously going to get your panties in a bunch because I delayed you not even a minute in getting back to your house?!?!

This happened back in late 2018 or early 2019, when I was doing Uber Eats as a side hustle and I made the stupid decision to drive into Philly. I had to get gas, and I ended up stopping at a station in a sketchy area. It was dark out, and I didn't feel unsafe, but I wanted to get the hell out of there. I had just swiped my credit card and was about to put the nozzle in the tank when this middle-aged black woman decided to walk between the gas pump and the left side of my truck. She looked like she was on something, and didn't even bat an eye as I stared at her.

A big pet peeve of mine is when people block the road so they can talk. It can be one in a vehicle and one on foot, or both in vehicles. This was prior to 2016 because we still lived in the townhouse, but one time at night I was just down the street from my house and all I wanted to do was go to bed. Actually, I don't remember if it was day or night, but I was in a bad mood and I wanted to go home...

These two women, one in front of me and one driving in the opposite direction, were clearly friends and stopped to chat. The neighborhood had nearly 400 homes, and in 9 9 years of living there, I probably knew less than 20 households. I wasn't having it, and I didn't feel like turning around and going the other way, so I laid on the horn and ended that conversation in a matter of seconds.

Another time in 2016, within days of moving into the new house, I came home and found two guys in work trucks blocking the only way to my house; I live on a culdesac with only one way in and out, and both of these guys were in commercial trucks that I couldn't drive around. I laid on the horn, they moved, and I didn't think about it again. However, there was another incident a short time later involving another construction worker blocking the road that I do not want to discuss publicly (I did not get in any trouble, but it is not something I am proud of). This incident led to a visit from one of the construction supervisors, who told me that a couple weeks earlier the guys I'd honked at had complained to him. Needless to say, after the second incident, construction workers would move their vehicles and/or get out the way when they saw my truck coming.

 

^ and you're the bad guy for wanting to DRIVE on the street.

 

Lately I have noticed at times a complete and utter disregard for red lights. And I'm not talking about when I'm in a small nearby city for work, it's the wild west some days so whatever...

But in my small town people will be super aggressive, get up to a red light and I can SEE them just itching to go. Stale red light, bam they just take off. This last time the person just pulled into a strip mall (while also driving on the WRONG side of the road for about an eighth of a mile before the turn). One other time I was coming up to a red, I noticed the person next to me was frequently looking at their phone (again, in the middle of this small town's "main street"). I slowed for the red light, this person didn't even flinch, bang right through it, had been red for a solid 2 seconds prior.

I don't get it but whatever.

 

It really is incredible

 

Sitting at a stop light, I see through the back window of the CRV in front me, someone with their phone mounted on the damned windshield, right above the steering wheel and about 4 inches off the centerline of the wheel. Video is playing on it, light turns green, they slowly start going. As they're going, some slightly jerky corrections of steering, and I can see they are swiping through videos as they are driving.

Driving around here is an annoyance at best some days, and a brain trust of absolute dipshits at worst.

If you can't manage to survive your car ride without HAVING to look at social media, I don't know what to tell you. Just stay away from me on the road, please.

 

This galls me, though at least they were in front of you so you can somewhat predict what they're doing. Some jerk rear ended my wife doing a similar thing and put her out of work almost a year.

 

Ugh that's a pisser. Almost a year? Goddamn hope she recovered to a level as good as she was prior.

 

Fortunately yes, thanks for asking...major concussion. I wanted 5 minutes with the person responsible but hasn't happened.

People who think that a turn signal automatically grants them right of way, and third parties who involve themselves in disputes between two motorists; I dealt with both this morning in the span of a couple minutes…

I was driving to a car show in Bethlehem; Amanda was in the passenger seat and a perfect view. I was in the left lane, there was an 18-wheel in the right lane, and an impatient driver in a late model Volkswagen Jetta was stuck behind the big rig. The Jetta’s left blinker came on and the driver proceeded to come into my lane without even looking; I laid on the horn and hit the brakes. With nowhere else to go and the Jetta still trying to get into the left lane, I straddled the left lane and the center turn lane.

The driver of the Jetta flipped me off, so I returned the favor, and then the Jetta tried to pass me; I have never done anything like this before and I am not proud of it. I’m going through a lot right now between having found a friend’s dead body last month and being off work for almost three more weeks due to knee surgery, plus I’d gotten into an argument with Amanda and I was just in a foul mood…

I rapidly changed lanes to keep the Jetta from passing, and he backed off. Out of nowhere, an early 2000s Volkswagen Passat blows past me in the left lane and cuts me off. The passenger in the shotgun seat of the Passat then flashed a “hang loose” sign out the window, and I realized that the twatwaffles in the second Volkswagen thought they was somehow aiding the oblivious driver in the first Volkswagen.

People really need to mind their own business!

 

Saw a guy get super pissed about zipper merging. He was honking and eventually started to block traffic.

They really need to teach people simple reasoning, or some how funnel people into one lane better assuming everyone is a mouth breather.

 

One time, probably 4 years ago, I was driving south on 611 in the right lane. A middle aged woman in a Volvo came out of nowhere from my left, put on her signal, and just wedged herself between my truck and a landscaping truck pulling a trailer with inches to spare; I laid on the horn.

A short time later, I roared past the Volvo, and then in my rearview I saw a guy in a Chevy Silverado swoop in and seemingly cut off the Volvo on purpose. A short time later, I ended up in the right lane at a red light with the guy in the Chevy to my left. He proudly said that he’d seen the Volvo cut me off, and took revenge on my behalf; I don’t think that was the right thing to do…
