on my new mossberg 500 slug gun.....the barrel is a rifled barrel. i know that sabot slugs are probably the best slugs to run thru that barrel................but being the price that they are(and the fact that i already have some)........will rifled slugs work in a rifled barrel??? if not...im gonna have to go and buy some sabot slugs for sighting in and shooting. i have used the rifled slugs in my mossberg 88 maverick(smooth bore) with a modified choke...and its pretty good...............but i need to know if rifled slugs will work in a rifled barrel. dont wanna mess up my new 500!!

They will work, but will be.......like going against each other. Sabots are you best bet.
And on that note, I have sabots here, I know longer hunt with a shotgun because of our new and better rules. I can send you some of different makers, some pretty dang good. All's they are doing here is taking room in the ammo can, and at some point will go bad.

NO PROBLEM to hook you up!!!:)

Payment....no way. I will hook you up, let me get this new year going and I will get a box together.
Way I look at it is " if it is sitting here doing me no good, just might as well get rid of it, someone may have a good use for it"

In a rifled slug barrel only sabots can be used, a rifled slug is for a smooth bore. Even though sabots are expensive you really cant shoot a lot of 12 guage slug loads, unless you like getting beat up a little.

The Hornady SST sabots is pretty inexpensive and accurate to boot, a good place to buy ammo is natchez, you will also want to look a Lightfield hybred EXP's they are probably some of the cheapest sabot's around but supposedly work real well, good luck.

If your shots arent long i would definately check out those lightfields www.lightfieldslugs.com they are cheaper than Hornday's and supposedly really whack em good. How did you do this year hunting? i passed a small forkhorn during bow and never got another opportunity. I did shoot two 8 pointers a 7 and a doe during rifle season so i was a good one. Good luck with the slug gun, i have a Remmy 870 with rifled barrel but i dont hunt Jersey so it doesnt really get used, maybe one of these years i will use it.

gonna check those out man!! thanks!

well..................my season was basically a waste. since i had my neck surgery on october 3rd.........didnt really get a chance to bow hunt too much this year......couldnt pull the bow at all(pinched nerves aint no fun), and for the gun part of the season.........i got one lil' doe.....and i messed up on a big ol' 8 point, and i messed up on a big ol' doe. and to be honest...since my Dad died in august.................it kinda shot the season for me to a point anyway. i mean...i still went alot this season, but with the way the weather was around here, just wasnt too good. im looking forward to next season!
