Nothing major or fancy. Just stuff to make it work better for me. Running boards, seat covers, BakFlip
Today? Hauled three loads of firewood, and towed my woodsplitter home. Firewood season, the falling and bucking anyway, is officially over.

I miss my 4600's, they rode so nice compared to my 5100's

Speaking of that, I've been on the fence for a year now about if I should go Fox or King, and I really just want my 4600 ride quality back with the leveled look like my 5100's have with the Cir-Clip on the third perch.

Does anyone have any suggestions that are comparable to the 4600 ride quality or better? I don't need a stiff ride, I want a smooth and softer ride, because the area where I live is a mine field of pot holes.

You may need to depending on your final decision about a new place. Even northern AZ seems sufficient weather for that mod.

Yeah for $42.00, I would either go to the local hardware store and pick up a 1/2" to 1/4" brass barb fitting, no flow restrictions and cheap, or I found one on Amazon for $6.00 plus 10' of 1/4 vacuum hose for $8.00, or local hardware/auto parts store and buy 2' of it and use hose clamps or zip ties or whatever you have around and call it a day for way less... No offence to the seller, but damn, no one is gonna be looking at it, why add the expensive and heavy bling to your ride?? lol

I can appreciate the time, money, and craftsmanship people put into modifying their vehicles for their personal preference. And sometimes the mod is a bona fide improvement over OEM. But to me it’s damn nice to click the stock stock stock boxes and get a part you know is going to fit your vehicle with no fucking around. And I’m not talking specifically about 4600’s over 5100’s. YMMV

I'm trying to understand this better, can you help me out. I've been thinking about your post, since posted.

I think you're saying, with the 5100's, leveled-out setting, (highest 5100 setting), they definitely feel more jarring than the 4600's.

In this switch back to 4600, did you also change, or did you retain, the same coil as was in service for the 5100's? I think you used same coil - judging from pics.

Theoretical question, if the 5100's could have been re-set back to the lower setting (giving you rake which you don't like) would the ride have felt less jarring, more so like the 4600's are feeling now?

And so now, with 4600's, your truck is not lifted? I am assuming it is not lifted now as per all the info/instructions found at https://bilstein.com/en-us/products/.

Any chance you got a pic of your truck side-view with 5100's, and now with 4600's? Tia.

Kinda confusing since you would think, 5100s would be an improvement over 4600s. (Just an opinion)

I can say, the TRD Lift shocks (Bilstein 5100s) installed on my Sport are an improvement over the OEM Hitachi shocks.

My shocks were the cheapest. I put in new struts. ( no name struts). And I was given a set of 4600’s for the rear. Pretty happy with it.

5100's are a big improvement offroad. They make the onroad ride stiffer, thus not as plush as 4600's.

I've got no experience with 4600s...but the Hitachi Shocks I had for 47 months were very spongy and skipped on turns with uneven pavement.

Me taking those same turns now and I notice the 5100s stay more engaged with the road. (Subjective)

The 5100s still feel plush like the ride of the 2024 Tacoma Limited I had as a loaner while my TRD Lift was installed at dealership this past April.

I purposely got an Automatic Transmission Sport DCSB because it would be my daily driver.

35K+ miles later, I have exactly what I've wanted since buying my new truck on May 14, 2021.

I think everyone has a subjective opinion on ride quality, I've had numerous people agree the 5100's are too stiff on road and you can feel every single bump and others disagree.

I have zero added weight, and the 4600's where very noticeably softer and more comfortable for me. However I was able to hit the bumps a lot sooner so that tracks. Eventually I might get an Accutune setup with Fox or Kings but I've heard that Eibachs are the middle ground between the 5100 and stock 4600's

The 5100's are definitely great off road at speed, I've straight up jumped rail road tracks and not touched the bumps and it was very impressively soft for such a bargain on the 5100's

On road however it's stiffer than my 1 ton Leaf sprung F350 and I remember when it was better THAN the ford.

    Agreed...very subjective.

    We all have different experiences.

Every owner will acquire their choice of shocks...or any other upgraded item.

There shouldn't be any persuasion to say, "one is better than the other" in these discussions. (Subjective being key with testimony)

Take the testimonies for what they are, which should not lead to opposing/stating any one experience is better than another.

This is a great community and I'll always look to it for personal opinion-based stories that determine which way I/we proceed with upgrades.

After a 2 week delay (thanks tariffs!) I had my Topper installed at Stellarbuilt in Sac. It worked perfectly as I was headed to Arnold, CA the same day I booked my install appointment! I love it so far. Even after all of the research and drooling over pics online I'm still shocked in the quality of craftsmanship from GFC. I'm slowly copying @pc3coyote with the Spirit of 1876 Shoe rack to fit my 35" spare in the bed. It all just works! Took it on Sourgrass trail and had minimal to no dust inside. Coming from a fiberglass Snugtop, this thing is better in every way for me.

Swapped the PCV valve this morning and ordered a set of '20-'23 TRD Pro taillights. Grabbed a set of VLED standard VTAILs while I was at it. Just a smidge more chrome gone!

That's awesome to hear! When I picked up Kermit and saw the factory blackout stuff I just knew that as much "silver" as possible needed to go. Looked at lots of the aftermarket options and I think Toyota got everything right except for the shiny bits. I'm excited to get them installed!
