Yup, shipping schedules appear to be retreating to that "over promise and under deliver" mode since it's the day to call my friends at the Yamaha outboard dealer to check on whether the engine they'd paid for on their 30 March invoice is still on schedule to be shipped today. I looked at the long shaft 2.5 horse when I drove over there April 23, so there are at least two friends looking out for the short shaft 4-stroke to arrive for the 1962 Grumman version of the Maine Guide Boat that ran best with its first outboard, a 3 hp. Evinrude or Johnson than with the later (replaced due to Air Force PCS moves that had the boat in storage) Mercury 6, McCullough 4, and the Evinrude Yacht Twin 4 2-stroke that had been dropped by the previous owner that took it back to the dealer Dad bought it from. Plenty of power in the early '70s up to half-throttle, and beyond that the damage that the dealer desired the new owner to pay a repair bill for was obvious. I have the Evinrude manuals and parts catalogs so someday I may take on that restoration project... Ranch shop storage, thick dust floor, varnished gasoline... I helped my sister inventory and identify things in the shop for disposal and auction, including an old Craftsman belt sander buried in the dry dirt of the floor. I saved the metal placard for the four screws...
Summer Solstice is coming! (Talking with an older friend at church, we figure that the larger outboards must be more desirable for the shipping unit... 350 horsepower?)
