My first car was a 1960 Ranchero, 6 cylinder with a 2-speed automatic. I carried friends around in the back, band equipment, car parts. Beat the bejeezus out of it. When it rained the floor behind the seat would become a swimming hole for mice. One day the right front shock tower let go and the top of the shock absorber made about 30 holes in the hood before I got the car stopped. That was the end of it.

 

So you could drive it with all those other problems but not with holes in the hood?

 

It was more the fact that the right front suspension was no longer connected to the rest of the vehicle. There was enough rust elsewhere to write off trying to fix it. Otherwise I would have definitely kept driving it.

I forgot to mention that we named it "The Rauncho".

Did you know that the typhoon and syclone had a misfit brother, the Sonoma GT, no turbo or awd, just a massaged power plant and such. But got staged along with the other 2 in the show rooms as a performance beast.

 

I do remember the Sonoma GT.

performance was... 195hp. and what were stock trucks like 118 in 90's the civic made from like 97 to 125hp which is also crazy

 

My 1975 Chevy K20/383 Stroker and 1985 GMC K2500/454

 

My neighbor had a Chevy that was identical to the GMC it was stock but it was the same color Custom Deluxe 20. He put a U.S.A cap on not long after gertting it I can recall him bringing a few bucks home in it through out the years.
