Maybe; I think it's more of a save the drivetrain thing. Even our '23 Camry does it from a dig. I also seem to remember my '22 Tacoma 6MT would do the same thing, even trying to quickly release the clutch and go it would kind of bog.

I have 1600 miles now and this did happen to me once yesterday, it was when I was pulling out of my neighborhood so in a turn and flooring it as there were cars coming. At the next light I floored it again and it took off and even chirped the tires a little but wheels were straight. I suspect it has something to do with taking off while in a turn, the system might not like that or something???

I dislike the computers overriding the driver. That and their heart stopping warnings.

Not really. There's nothing in his description to suggest TSS is activating or detecting the "possibility of a collision."

He's stopped, crossing 2 lanes of opposing traffic, getting on the gas, and it happens in the same area. The only thing missing is the buzzer.

found this, but as of 2020, it only applies to Japan: the Acceleration Suppression Function “aims to control acceleration due to abnormal operation of the accelerator even when no obstacles are present.”

Yes, thanks for bumping this as it still happens occasionally and you may be right about it happening around a turned wheel. I believe it is a software issue and indeed a significant lag when you aren't expecting it!

I find my 2025 TRD OR also has a serious lag when pulling out from a stop sign. The one road I’m trying to turn onto or cross has limited sight distance and you really need to go quick. The road has a long history of people speeding despite the speed limit being reduced due to the number of accidents at the intersection. Didn’t have this problem with my 21 TRD OR.

Have you taken your truck to the service department?

    Bump.

I just realized it's definitely not 100% related to steering angle. There is another stop light on my way to work where I have to make a right onto a freeway service road with a 50mph speed limit. The right turn lane is angled to keep you from having to make a sharp right turn while trying to merge into higher speed traffic:

I have never had this same weird hesitation issue happen here. I didn't even think about it until this weekend. Unlike the other turn I mentioned earlier in the thread I definitely have the wheel turned when I have to punch it.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Steering yaw sensor, maybe. I drove a Ford work truck that had that problem. Don’t know but good luck.

I have had this happen a couple of times when making a left turn across busy roads so I was definitely punching it a bit more than normal. I am taking my Tacoma in for the 5k service this Friday, will mention it and report back.

If you notice - the laggy transmission is because 90% of the time, the damn transmission starts out in 3rd gear. I hate that. Is it a gas saver? Who knows. It should not be starting in 3rd gear. Totally agree it's a software issue.

OTT is releasing an update that sounds like a fix the torque neutering software in lower gears.

    Mine doesn’t. But it isn’t a hybrid.

My wife's Rubicon has a setting in the dash to show the current gear the transmission is in. I haven't found that setting in my truck. Am I missing something or are you getting the gear settings somewhere else?

yeah this makes no sense to me unless he's slipping the shifter to the side where it says D3 and is thinking it means it's starting in 3rd...
