Seen a bunch of people with the Magnuson SC need clutches. The stock clutch starts to slip with the extra boost. But with 5.29 gearing probably less of an issue.

Sounds like Bruce Badass Performance is the real deal....
I would personally go down there & pick his brain about rebuilding your block with better pistons...
See how that compare to the price of what youre sourcing for a short block....

Sure he has access to parts youre unaware of...
Then again, still have no idea how much boost...

    4-7lb of boost.

I've been watching the clutchforce videos on how it works and the mechanics of the clutch plate seems really cool! I could keep a factory flywheel on there...but might as well get a flywheel designed with the clutch system I'm putting in. I can definitely report back on how it works out. My guess is...the trucks drove with compression of like 150 on all cylinders when they should be above 200...so odds are Ill not notice the flywheel "weight" as the truck should run so much better than before.

Not really a racing issue, just if anyone increases the power to SC levels, the clutch seems to not hold up. I don't have a SC, so the stock clutch is all good for me.

Or are you saying you don't see why anyone wants a SC to begin with?

definitely not trying to race it, just out there being "different" plus I have a mod disease that effects all my vehicles.

This is interesting, is the transmission a direct swap? I sit at around 3k rpms at highway speeds which is good for the motor power band but too high for long trips, the 6 speed in the truck really has no difference from 4-6th the gears just are not far enough apart within gear 5 and 6. I wish I could go in and change 6th gear to something really tall.

100% direct swap. It is the transmission part number out of a 4th gen. You remove all the bell housing and clutch stuff that comes with it and reuse your own stuff. Bolts up 100% perfect.

1st gear will definitely be really short with 5.29s, but the rest of it would be pretty fantastic with a supercharger.

BTW - 70 mph is 3000 rpm with 5.29s and stock size tires (I ran that combo a while), so technically you are going faster than 70 with your large tires. But still, yeah, the stock transmission revs pretty high, especially on 5.29s. I bet you’re doing around 2600 at 70.

Here’s my thread on it if you’re interested.

@lacab100 did the swap also, and he has a Maggy SC. But he does not have the regear.

I think maybe my set up with that transmission and 4.88's would be perfect.

That would be pretty slick. That is the equivalent of my setup, since I am on stock gears and tires. If I added a supercharger, it would be pretty fun.

Lol...yeah, I am probably leaving my engine stock long term. Would be fun, but I feel like it will introduce a headache.

Yes, those are the valves… and they are dirt cheap. The IS-F 13715-38080 Stainless exhaust valves might be a better choice with the forced induction. It could probably be debated.

I mean, ill take your word for it. Why would the stainless be a better option with forced induction in your opinion?

I suspect the grade of stainless used in the valve is very high, and can probably tolerate higher temperatures than the Ti valve.

So Yotawerx states they found a NEW block for 1580$ I'm not sure how...but if this pans out they would be doing me a solid. That's a massive saving compared to what I was about to spend.

Still didnt answer the question, unless I missed it....
How much lbs of boost are you running!!!!!!

    ??????

    Lets be real here....
You mention theres plenty of people running sc's on Tacomas....
    5lbs or 14lbs on a stock bottom?

Some pistons are better suited, & what frank is doing to his rig, may not work of Freds....

Yeah pretty low psi. Stock internals have been handling these boost numbers for many others.
