Yeah that thing is overkill, and definitely don't need a filtered kit built-in.

Just more curious about a strong "box" to handle the water weight. The filter media layout will all be DIY.

I did look at EDPM liners, and I can see why you recommend them. Will be going that route for a liner.

And depending on the size of the plastic bin (for the filter) will determine the add-on enclosure built against the pond.

Goal is to stay away from gravity fed (from box to pond) and use a pump to push water from the filter box up to a "waterfall" back into the pond.

Goal is to hide everything within the wooden built enclosure.

Anything wrong with just getting these then? I'm not really sure why you feel like you need an external filter box for something that small - it's just going to add failure points

Being my first outdoor pond, I may be looking at this stuff the wrong way which is why I came here for suggestions.

I really like that filter box you just linked, but the reason for an external setup was to create a sort of sump tank. I ran a 20 gallon sump tank to my +100 gallon fish tank but it was all indoors.

I thought having a small reservoir of water, along with filtering of my own, would really help the pond but it seems overkill I guess due to the size of the tank itself?

I'll be around 150-200 gallons but don't expect to have more than 5-6 fish in it to give them room to grow. Maybe a submersible with a large volume of water for the tank itself could be the better alternative.
