I like the way you pulled forward to make the Tacoma look smaller

Haha, yeah that wasn't on purpose. The corner of the buildings foundation stopped me from backing up as far as the Tacoma :)

But that picture you edited is somewhat interesting because the Tacoma has the stock 265/65/18's where my truck has 285/70/17's. But it looks like the Tacoma's tires are almost bigger...

Plus, the Tacoma isn't lifted as much so the roof line's aren't accurate (as shown by the drain pipe in the background that's no longer level above each truck).

The Tacoma has 265/70/18s, so your 285/70/17s are only 0.1 taller. I had to eyeball the photoshop because GMC says the AT4 is 72.4" wide (w/o mirrors) and the Pro is 79.9" wide (w/o mirrors) - doesn't seem right. The AT4 is spec'd at 79.8" tall but it has that really tall antenna (vs the Pro at 75.8" tall).

Everyone should be proud of their truck, so showing it off in the best light is understandable. Only a minor dig at you for posting a GMC in a Toyota forum :)

There was a nice 2500 Chevy Trail Boss on display in front of CostCo this morning. All black and shiny. Looked really nice. $79k.

In my zip code, $100k trucks are pretty normal. Usually pulling $100k+ bass or wake boats.

    You aren’t pulling a $300k Malibu with a Tacoma.

We didn't have a 300k boat but a HEAVY Lance camper, loved it but it just wasn't worth the daily headache of a HD truck.

3rd gen I belive has better towing capacity. Not that I would ever want to tow 6000lbs with these trucks... I do ~3000 often and its enough.

From what I just read the 4x4 4th gen has more tow capacity, not by much though, 100 lbs...

Same towing capacity in most trims. Only low end trims have a slight advantage to the 3g.

now the actual experience of towing a given load greatly favors the 4g, irrespective of ratings

Exactly, the low end grunt of the 4G makes it much easier add to that the transmission. When towing I don’t like winding up the engine at 5,500- 6,000 rpm. I’ve heard from several guys here the Tacoma seems to tow like a diesel engine (and apparently sounds like one too!).

Agree, the reverse ratio is much improved over the 3G MT, but still not as crazy low as 1st gear in the new transmission!

I know others have considered jumping over to one of these. Any new insight? No regrets?
