I’m about 30% through my first one. Realized it still had moisture so it’s hanging out in the corner of the shop til it’s dried

I don't know if I could do that.
More like...I don't think I have the patients for that.
I can rework risers to accept aftermarket limbs, but carving out the entire bow.??..that takes some serious skill.

On tools with cast iron tables like bandsaws and tablesaws, I've found using a paste wax works best. It only takes a bit of time to save headaches later. This can will probably last well after my lifetime.

Probably would involve some serious trial and error too on the limbs to get good (draw weight) and bilaterally equal deflection (energy transfer) of the limbs, while maintaining enough strength to not crack, both on draw or on the shot.

Ive "read" up on it...i do have one that hasnt broke the limbs but its not a lot of draw weight. I think im on maybe third one...its has to do with me not taking my time and trying to rush:anonymous:

Been using that for many years. Still on the original can and it's still half full. I bet it will outlast me. I'll will it to my daughter! LOL

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I aspire to be "not much of a wood worker." Nice job.

When I was in high school, I worked in a good sized print shop.
A can of paste wax was on the table of the paper sheers (giotines) to assist in the large sheets stacks of card stock sliding on the table.
We waxed the table at the beginning of our shift...at least.

That's a good thing. They don't make it anymore. I have a can of that and a can of minwax. And I also make my own with turpentine and wax of your choice.
