Any hope on being able to repair right back window section (not the sliding window) without ordering a whole new window? Not seeing replacement windows on the net so I'm assuming it the whole assembly that will need replacing.. Broke It installing a topper...

Can answer your Q, but a call to a local automotive glass shop might get you an answer.

My Q is how hard did you have to whack it to crack it?

my friend broke the window on his 2nd gen Tacoma loading up a pallet for work. there was a bungie cord everyone missed that got stretched by the forklift, finally gave way, and shattered the back window.

In high school, my buddies and I were recovering my parent’s Ford LTD from a muddy farm field. The 20’ log chain ripped through the frame of the LTD and proceeded through the air at high speed into the back window of my buddy’s Chevy LUV. No one was hurt.

    Young and dumb we were.

    Insurance should cover that.

I just broke my rear window and a local guy replace it. It cost just over $1,000.

$675 for the glass and $275 for install and a few dollars for supplies. It took him a few hours and it was not an easy job. Rear window is urethaned in. Very hard to cut the seal especially up around the headliner. All of the trim behind the rear seats needs to come out. After he got the window out the old center section and regulator are reused and need to be assembled with the new glass. His glass price was a little high but he did a great job and earned every penny of the install cost.

Agree, the window is very hard to get out. Putting one back in is easy.

I do my own work and found removal to be an absolute bear. It went better after I made the realization; I was not going to be able to save mine. I was removing the old tinted to replace with a non-tinted slider - no breakage. If I were to do it again, I won't, I'd replace the slider with a solid piece of glass. Never use it in its intended function.

Your costs for the window and labor I would reverse - $675 for labor and $275 for the glass - it was that hard. I think my glass costs less than your labor.

Broke the drivers section on mine a couple years back. Unfortunately you do have to replace the whole thing. Mine was covered under my insurance though. So YMMV. My installer had to come out twice too. They "forgot" that mine had a slider in it. I also had to pull my bed rack and tent off and I removed my back seat components to help it go a little quicker. I knew more about taking the interior apart than the installer, smh.
