oh no, the $370.00 is for what I think is R44, R22 was $1800.00 for 30 lbs. Now I know that you "shouldnt" mix, but,at this point, I dont care, we are looking at 108 feel like in a few days, so there's that....

I bought a jug of R22 about 5 years ago and it was $450, when we sold the old place I didn’t need it anymore so I sold what was left to a guy for $350. We used it in our cooler and house A/C.

Our new place had a new unit installed a few years ago and has something else in it, can’t remember what.

Ha! I turned the A/C on when I got the car and it wouldn’t cool. I found a part of a can I forgot I had and figured it was worth a shot so I tried it yesterday. Thankfully it worked!

    Today was interesting.

Last week Mrs Green said those words that strike terror in a mans heart --
(not those words :D, we are both well past that ;) )...
    .
    .
    .
"the washer is making a funny noise..." :censored:

It would also leak on an irregular basis but never when filling or washing.

It seems back in the late 80's when I bought this I inadvertently bought one of the best design washers ever made, a Whirlpool direct drive.

Two screws and the console lifts and hinges back, unplug the lid switch on the left side.

    upload_2025-6-18_21-18-40.png

And then simply pop two spring clips and lift the entire front, sides and top off as a unit.

    upload_2025-6-18_21-22-41.png

And find yourself with everything in place yet exposed and easy to access, brilliant!

The mount for the small spring in the upper left of the photo had rusted away, the end of the spring broke when I tried to reconnect it to a done is better then perfect repair.
I found a spring almost kind of similar at True Value.

    upload_2025-6-18_21-25-47.png

This washer has never been apart or even moved from this spot in over 30 years - the inside of a washer gets nasty I'm here to tell you fellers... :puke:

And how appropriate is this, the frame of the washer is quite rusty, just like my cars.:frusty:

and how many of us flip the switch during a power outage and freak out for a second that nothing happened?

not everyone understands vehicles.. and electric vehicles have absolutely confounded the functionality even further to the layman.

we've all got our strengths and weaknesses. i just don't feel it's good for anyone for a dozen people to gleefully ignore his honest question and just pile on instead. i think it's fair to say many of us have been there. maybe not this subject, but something else. for me, it's where i stop asking questions all together, and start modifying things to suit my needs. in this case, on this topic, it wouldn't be far-fetched for me in that unknowing situation to be jamming a screwdriver into the a/c system to get it to engage with the engine off...

far be it to just educate someone on what they don't know they don't know, but you do... no, it's more fun to humiliate and embarrass them until they injure themselves while being too worried to ask questions...

for me, it seems it's my facebook marketplace hunts that do me in.

i start looking for something on marketplace, and then suddenly, something around the property needs the money more..

this past weekend, my cars clutch started vibrating in the pedal. meaning the throwout bearing is finally eating itself. not entirely unexpected. i'm at 64k, and most others were seeing throwout bearing failure at 30-50k.

i bought all the parts back when i was at 40k to prepare myself for the eventuality. back when i was more motivated to do it myself. but the thought of dropping a trans on a garage floor less than excites me.

so now i'm looking to pay a shop. and paying a shop means they have all the tools. and all the tools means 'while you're in there'. the a/c system seems weak. the trans and diff fluids are at mileage to change, as well as spark plugs... none of which i'm very keen on doing if i can help it...

The guessers were saying it was going to thunder & lightning along with buckets of rain this afternoon.

It was miserable humid and high 80's but the sky had some blue so I hitched up and did 4 in town lawns, two were so heavy I had to double cut them.

Got back to the garage, the humidity had dropped and the sun was out - and the truck was already out which meant the LTD was easy to get out.
    :burnrubber:

    60 miles later :)

It turned 23,000 along the way too, 59 years old and the first time around.
