‘07 2.7l 5 lug front brake pad and rotor recs?

    Any recs for ‘07 2.7l 5 lug front brake pads and rotors?

    Dealer wants $747…I’m going to do it myself…

    182k miles…. No vibration.

    Not sure if I need to replace the rotors…

    How can one tell?

    I would replace them. I did at like 125K on my 05 5 lug. Get the parts and do it yourself.

    Import Direct Front Brake Pads

    69.99 per set


    Import Direct - rotors not in stock.

    $305.68 pads and rotors


    Import Direct Pads $20 when purchased with rotors.


    Brake Best Select

    $244.54 pads and rotors

    Jesus! That should be qualified for a robbery.

    Do them yourself. It is very easy and MUCH Cheaper. Plus you will learn something new.

    There is a ton of help here in the Forum.

    The last time I did my 2013, I used Power Stop from RockAuto (rotor and pad kit). Although one is SUPPOSED to turn rotors, the price (at least around me) doesn't make economic sense to turn rotors when getting them turned is either just about the same, or even MORE than just buying new rotors.

    My PERSONAL process is to just do pad slaps with rotor replacement every other pad replacement.

    I always get coated rotors because I live in NH. It's kind of bogus because the coating never REALLY prevent rusting, but it at least slows it down. I used to use Centric (the higher line, not the econ line), but for whatever reason, I haven't been able to find applicable coated rotors so went with Power Stop, and they have been fine. Power Stop has good recs on a lot of forums.

    But I drive like an old man because I AM an old man.

    Nothing wrong with driving like an old man, imo. I always do it when I’m not in a hurry…

    I used PowerStop on our other vehicle…

    I would consider having the rotors turned, but I’m looking for more stopping power than
    current OEM ones…

    The stock pads, and what most replace them with if not OEM, is ceramic. Ceramic produces less dust, but also does not grab as hard as semi-metallic. You can try other brands, but OEM, I believe, are Akebono and you can't get much better than that.

    If you use semi-metallic, it will grab harder, but there are a few drawbacks to using semi-metallic. Among them are things such as increased wear of the rotor, faster wear of the pads, more heat, and worst of all (to some) more dust - and the dust is potentially more damaging to your nice wheels if you have them (usually not a big deal as long as you clean it regularly).
