    a) Let them hit the cart and call the cops. But hopefully there is no next time. This is not a first time she did that, I am sure.
I got almost run over by a co-worker last week (talking on the phone, eyes down) in the parking lot. Jumped out of the way just in time. I have not said anything, she would just deny it.

    b) As far as calling the police...I do not know how it is where you are at, here the non-emergency line routes to the 911 center anyways. I had called several time over four-wheelers racing up and down the road. The doughnut eater showed up 2 or 3 hours later. An hour after it was over. Sheriff's office here works very hard to do as little as possible.

PS I live on a decent piece of land and had to call them for poachers, trespassers, etc. My opinion has been formed over 15 years of interactions with the local sheriff deputies in rural GA.

I know it isn't the first time she shot up in the Walmart parking lot . . .
Which is why I actually wish I let her hit my cart - I'd rather she hit my cart than plow into some other driver head on and kill them/her kid [cause you know she would survive...]

Calling the non/emergency # does the same thing here but it is lower priority so if they are super busy, you may get the Sheriff operator or another person answering. I live in rural NC - and calling it in may/may not get results depending on how busy/where officers are located but at least I tried..

Local LEO departments are severely understaffed [more so post covid] so I kinda take issue with you saying they are lazy
They try/do their best with the limited resources they have - to expect more is unreasonable
I find that, generally, people expect too much from their local governments - a lot of this is due to fiscal mismanagement at the local/state level; but that isn't the officers' fault - they are just trying to do their jobs; most [not all] genuinely care about making the community safer. It is a difficult job, even for dedicated officers.

I too have had interactions with them over the past 20 yr here - dog attacks and ATV nonsense mainly. They mostly responded promptly [within an hour, which is reasonable given the county size/ruralness here] and did everything they could to help resolve those issues. It took a few visits but eventually the offenders were put in check.

I've lived here since 2011, way pre-Covid, and they were lazy then. I do not hate them, I just know what they will and will not do. I was told they could not do anything about the street racing, unless they caught offenders in the act (first call was in 2016, I remember the year because of something else that happened in my life). Hard to do it when it takes you several hours to show up. I now just go inside and work on the inside projects, so I do not have to listen to the engines revving up and down the street.
    Sorry about the sidetrack.

I usually avoid getting involved in almost anything that does not pertain to me

But that lady . . . . I should have had her hit the cart 100% and dealt with the shit there/then b/c she is gonna kill someone and that kid

I was mostly just flabbergasted at what I was seeing and didn't react quick enough

    I couldn't believe what I was seeing
Had I not yelled she would have hit that curb - which would have been another ending perhaps...

But like, are you fucking kidding me????

In his defense it is a current year, so I can agree with wanting to wait a little bit on the dingage..

I saw her when she returned

I'm confused. Which side is small vehicle parking? Also, do they wash that truck with a Brillo pad? Holy swirl marks Batman.

Our street is under construction. This is my neighbour parked next to a no parking sign because he absolutely had to take his Corvette out and apparently couldn't put his truck on the other side of the driveway for a couple hours.
