What am I going to do get mad about it and vote. I could move to a more tax payer friendly state, but that won't solve the issue. Protest in the streets like a loser? Become the subject of the latest manhunt? Non of that sounds like a good idea to me.

it's the same reason we're 'stuck' at level 3 autonomy. they(the mfg's) offload the liability to the vehicle owner. by requiring them to be conscious in the drivers seat, or commanding the vehicle to go park, the driver/owner is the party liable for damages.

 

It's also because level 4 (full control, most conditions) is darned hard, and even most humans can't do level 5 'everywhere in all conditions'.

Tbh, I don't really care about data center folks shopping jurisdictions and chasing deals, that's what every sane person should be doing. But I also don't really care if someone lives in, say Vancouver WA (0 income tax) and shops in Portland, OR (0 sales tax). Just makes sense.

If you can't park from the driver's seat how are you going to do a better job from outside the vehicles using your phone.

Do you stop in a busy street jump out run over to the sidewalk and parallel park with your phone? By the time you do that traffic will be on your bumper and you won't be able to back up. All you'll be able to do is back into the traffic behind you.

I'm surprised seat belt laws don't apply even though you aren't behind the wheel you are driving.

Think about that.....
The added cost of the characters and processing time that it takes to handle "Please" and "Thank you" add up to MILLIONS of dollars. Those dollars are used to purchase electricity and water.

Most of your AI Server Farms are looking to add on Small Scale Nuclear Generation on site because they are using that much horsepower right now. A single Nuclear Reactor can produce about 14 MEGAWATTS. At small scale that would be roughly 7 to 10 Megawatts. Who is paying for that level of electricity - remember... If you aren't paying for the product, you are the product. Think about that. Someone is making enough money off of the free AI users to build Nuke Plants.

Silicon Valley looks like a fully stuffed printed circuit board from space. We’re paying $500 monthly for electricity and the utility company is telling us there won’t be enough power to go around for the next heat wave.

 

And yet somehow we think this is a net positive... Seems legit for our messed up society

 

So you're saying you haven't had a narrow parking spot before where the person next to you parked wayyyyy too close for you to open the door. Would be nice to be able to say, back it up enough to get in, no, instead of doing some contortions to get in from the passenger side or whatever? Like all things below L3-5, it would just be a tool for an attentive driver, not a replacement for driving.

 

Not really I'm very slender, if I can't open the door I can't open the door so it would still be a problem. Yes that's about the only situation where that tech could come in handy. I'm just think about fighting to parallel parking, or people fighting to get a parking spot. By the time you get out some one will take the spot. Why back in when you can pull in? Costanza!
