Hawaiian Style Tacomas - what are the rules and goals?

Man, landed in Kaua’i this morning and was wanting to remind my kids about this Tacoma sub-discipline. Didn’t take long to find a fine example in the wild. Also found a cool 280.

Cosmetics are a subjective thing, so not going to hate on the style, but wouldn't that put extra stress on the wheel and axle bearings with all that weight so far offset to the outside? Or is it a non-issue?

 

I almost bought one of these with moderately lifted and wide tires when shopping a few months ago. I chose not to buy it coz it didn't come with the oem tires needed to pass safety inspection. I have a friend who does the inspection but he is by the book.

 

Here in Houston we got donks and slabs. Candy paint drippin through to an entire culture with Paul Wall as their leader

west coast has low riders

east coast is a mix

the Hawaiian trucks are pretty unique though.

Only hate I have in car culture is for riced out civics with a fart cannon bouncing off the rev limiter. Go home.

Best thing I see on the EC is 2nd or 3rd gen Camry with historic tags going 90 using every bit of paved road service to weave through traffic. I seen one last week that looked really nice, good luck replacing that.

Worst is the Civics ripping through the gears racing every thing that pulls up next to them. The stock 4G Tacoma is faster.

 

I assume 6-monthly bearing changes is the price you pay for fashion.
