Around 4PM on Saturday. Another group showed up a few minutes after we arrived, though, and there were probably 8 people in there when we left a few hours later.

My father worked in the Pine Creek Tungsten mine in the 50’s and 60’s.

I work for the US Forest Service (for now) and no, all collected funds go in to the main pool of monies. Perhaps not for the Dept of Interior(National Parks). This all being said, we have a few rec techs, that clean the vault toilets, cut down hazard trees, make sure the trails are cleared, prep all the campgrounds for summer and they get paid peanuts, someday hoping for a better position. We already didnt have enough people, now, with DRP and VERA as well as the mass firings of all probational employees, we have even less. So, dont exepect a whole lot for your "tax dollars" as our budget is now insolvent, this administration wants to combine USFS fire with the DOI fire folks in the next 90 days creating absolute chaos...so expect it to be alot worse honestly. OK, Ill get off my soap box now.
For those that do enjoy the National Forests, please keep doing so and perhaps chip in and lend a hand volunteering to help clear trails or roads. Ask at your local Ranger Station!

    Just the basics
It's definitely worth having if you appreciate history of the area and/or like mining stuff.

It's one of the few areas where you can see the history you've read about. I mean there's so little stuff you can read about the SF Bay Area and then walk over and see the remnants of that time--not like the eastern sierra.

Well, book arrived today and just a quick flip through the pages and I'd say it was well worth it.

Mine, which I think I may have even ordered before yours, still hasn’t shipped! Radio silence from the store as well.

Yikes! They were johnny on the spot for me. Wonder if the holiday had anything to do with their response?

I ordered Saturday afternoon, so probably not the holiday.

If anything it is probably that I stupidly added a map to the order, which while it said it was in stock, perhaps wasn’t and might be holding up the order?

No biggie. I’ll try to ping them again next week if I don’t hear anything.

Could be worse. FedEx sent email last night. Package arriving today. Hasn't come so I checked delivery status. Tomorrow before the end of the day. Signature required...fml.

Edit: To make up for it, FedEx texted at 0528 this morning. They said between 10 and noon. 0958, ding-f'n-dong! Our driver is a good man, always careful, polite and professional.

Nope, and no shipments from anywhere on the way to me from USPS, UPS, or FedEx. I’ll try calling them tomorrow.

I can live with responsible mining and forest management on LEASED public lands. But the public needs to keep an eye on the tech bros with their visions of city-states or sovereign states within the States.
