Replaced passenger side steering rack boot and outer tie rod. Messed up on counting the turns for the tie rod end, so had to get an alignment. Luckily my friend had an alignment rack at his shop. Also did a tire rotation

    Seat platform 2.0.

Previously had full seat delete platform. Decided to revert just to platform for the fridge. Put the 1 seat bottom back in under the platform. Blocks the floor storage cubby but all I really have in there is a hidden air compressor, so no big deal.

Unfortunately I’m not too familiar with shops in the South Bay but I have my regular guy up here in the east bay. From your general area that can be about a 45-60min drive depending on day and time. Might have some luck making a thread in the nor cal section if you’re looking for something closer.

    Cut my trans cooler line...

Figured last night I would replace a couple exhaust gaskets that were leaking and the manifold bracket which was rusted off. After removing the lower cat to replace the gaskets and hardware, I was cutting the bolt to drill out and replace the manifold bracket (probably completely unnecessary since it doesn't seem to do much but figured I should be thorough). One little catch and skip with the angle grinder and suddenly trans fluid pouring all over me. Right at the fitting and almost all the way through too so was going to be tough to patch.

Fortunately Toyota said they have one in stock so should be able to pick it up on my way home from work and swap it out. Haven't done anything that stupid in quite a while lol. At least I have nice weather and my project miata to drive to work today haha.

How thick are the micro flares where they bolt on? Trying to find something that doesn’t take up much room.

my truck lives outside year-round. lately, the weather has been sunny and warm. took her in to get a 'spa day' exterior wash and wax and buff. Paid a lot of money but it rained as soon as i picked her up. :( i guess it better than nothing...

So this has been a long burning project of mine. Today I finally installed an Smittybilt air compressor in the truck bed using the Expedition Essentials compressor mount! I still have some clean up items to complete, but the compressor is in and it works!

Thinking tomorrow should be a celebratory drive into the cascades.

Finally fixed the fuel filler hose after changing out to fibreglass bedsides. Also those bedsides required way more modification to make fit than I expected, my dremel was working overtime!

That’s a job I never want to do again, but it works, gives no codes and I’ve successfully refueled with the setup. No leaks.

Also, snapped the plastic part of the locking mechanism on the gas flap, so Bush mechanic’d a solution using the magnets from a phone holder and some 3m strips.

    good enough…

    getting resprayed tomorrow.

Nice. I did a similar project with one of the dual piston models. It's a tight fit and I am concerned about heat in the long run, but the compressor was cheap enough. I kept the switch on the front so I need to remove the cover to turn it on.

I added a pressure switch and a tank for a true OBA setup.

Officially finished the DIY head gasket and timing job. Got the tundra brake booster/master installed. Made a new fuse box mount out of aluminum and wired in the new fuse/relay box

Counter intuitive as it seems, inflating tires goes slower with a pressure tank.
Obviously you might want the tank for other reasons, but try and bypass it when filling tires

    That makes absolutely no sense.

EDIT: found a thread online about this question and a guy did a test. A tank helps.
    https://wranglertjforum.com/threads...e-to-fill-your-tires.56743/page-5#post-997700

The only time lost would be if you connected it to the tire the same moment you turned on the compressor. Then you need to fill the volume of the tank and tire at the same time.

The whole point of the tank is to allow you to turn on the compressor, let it run and build pressure while you retrieve the hoses to fill. There is also time saved during the time you switch from one tire to another since the compressor is still running and building pressure.

2nd edit: Also I installed the tank to use an air gun to blow out the interior dust. I don't carry any other air tools since battery powered tools have eclipsed all my air tools anyways.

I'd love an explanation for your reasoning.

Nice! That has to be one of the highest CFM 12v compressors I’ve seen. I elected to go with the compressor I have since I picked it up from a local guy on Craigslist at half the price of a new one. I also added a pressure switch, changed the fittings from the original Japanese standard to the NPT US standard, and added a 360° swivel fitting with a flexzilla leader. Now I can turn it on and it won’t continue to run AND should something happen to my air hose then I can use anyone else’s to fill tires.

Not to get too far in the weeds on tanks, I didn’t see the need for one since I’m only looking to fill tires. I’ve aired up using my current setup, albeit not installed in the truck bed, with minimal down time. I have a Thor 4-way air hose to push air to all 4 tires and it was fast enough for me.

I am curious, how did you run power to the compressor? I ended up custom ordering cables from Powerwerx and running a positive power cable from the battery, with a circuit breaker, all the way to the back and then tapped the frame with the negative/ground wire.
