Any informed choice is a valid choice. Some people prefer to keep the street performance and will only occasionally suffer a bone rattler on washboard. Others prefer to soften it up for off road and not drive as aggressively on road.

The 5100s are a good shock. They're not going to rally the Baja, but they're a good for most things, jack of all purpose, choice. That works well for a multipurpose vehicle.

The Overland Outfitter and Wheel Every Weekend guys tested them and have a different opinion.

    Bilstein 5100 for the win.

Personally I'm ok with the 2" up front, which eliminates the oem Brake dive. And my 33" pizza cutters are great on the trails, with the extra ground clearance they provide. No regrats!!!!

They may not be the best shocks to buy, but they are the best for the price (in my mind).

The leafs may be causing some of the issues. You might be over sprung for no added weight in the rear. You could try adding 150-200lbs in the bed and see how it does then. You will notice an improvement with better shocks either way but they wont fix being over sprung.

I've watched these guys test several shocks!

I believe Car Care Nut suggested if you're not going to Off-Road, to get a TRD model and install the TRD Lift instead of buying TRD Pro...paying extra if you're not going to Off-Road being subjective.

The 2021 TRD Pro was about $45-49K and I wanted to spend under $40K...so, the TRD Sport fit the bill...plus, I wanted a daily driver.

I wouldn't test the TRD Lift Shocks (Bilstein 5100s) on terrain as these guys do...so, I won't disagree with those guys! lol

I was under the same impression but have been corrected on this forum as well - when I parted out my OR shocks they sure looked like 4600s so I looked into it. Turns out the stock OR shocks only look like 4600 color wise (yellow body blue boot) but are tuned quite differently.
