I lost track thousands of dollars ago.

Well scratch that i just called and they are not opening the OHV routes by next weekend. The ROCK CREEK TRAIL SYSTEM on the west side is open but I don't know how many truck trails they have up there is says mostly dirt bike and ATV trails. Has anyone been up there in a truck before?

Okay guys so I called back and there is no OHV trails open for trucks/Jeeps but the ranger told me if it's snow we want hit went worth springs road to stumpy meadows lake. She said is open all year to anyone that can make it and they don't plow it. So what do you guys think there is no dirt roads we can hit so snow covered paved roads are the only option. And went worth springs road meets up with the end Ice House road near Loon Lake where there is fire service roads and if there is no gate we can hit those to.

Wentworth Springs is basically the same as Mormon Emigrant Trail (MET) out of Pollock. I wonder if they'll be opening the gates off of MET on May 1?

If they're opening the gates to the various roads, then yes because we'll be on dirt (muddy this time of year) roads. It just depends on whether they plan to open the gates on May 1 (and I don't know if they're open on May 1 and it's a Sunday, do they really get around to opening them?). I'll see if I can find time this weekend to go up MET and see how far until hitting snow. It would be cool if we could get to Capps Crossing road and down to the creek because there's a forest road there that'll at least have some challenges on it (this is where we did all our firewood cutting last year, plus there's no gate at that end:D...probably because they figure if you can get to it then the gates should be open). It'll just depend on snow depth. That road in the spring has a mud bog area to pass through and there's at least one campsite down at the creek that has a very steep hill to get back up it.

I'll check it out and let you know (maybe I'll take pics too). I attached a pic of MET from March 12. This is what you'll see on Wentworth Springs too. This is what these paved forest roads look like when you FIRST hit the snow. Basically, from everyone driving on it all the time, everything on the road is mostly solid (no powder here). A couple miles past this point is Capps Crossing.

Cool man sounds good the fire service roads is what we want to hit they will me the least traveled roads. If there is gates on any of these roads you speak of I don't think they will be open she said they don't plan on opening any gates until mid may and that's if the weather stays good.

Gates? Actually, there are a couple we can get to now that the snow is up higher and they don't have gates. We tried the upper one, but there's a big tree uprooted across it. But the lower one, well I attached some pics. First pic is almost up to Capps Crossing on MET (it looked to get deep at the top of the hill there), the other two are on Snow Mills Rd (dirt/gravel fire road...actually mostly dirt/mud right now). I turned around when I hit the hill in the last pic (it was steeper than it looks in the pic, no recovery gear, and I wasn't prepared to step out in the mud:D). Ignore the crappy pics as we were shooting into the sun this morning.

Oh, and Park Creek Rd was open on the MET end (it goes all the way through to Sly Park Rd almost to the freeway, but the gate's still closed on that end). However, the MET end is the fun end anyway. I think they may be logging which may be why that gate is open. So no idea if it would be open on a Sunday.
