Upgrading blown sub in jbl tacoma

Alrighty, I’ve done so much digging around but can’t find my answer.

I have a 2005 taco with the jbl sound system. My sub is blown in the back and I have no clue what to do. I really would only prefer to upgrade the sub, but that’s even hard to do I’ve seen. Just need some advice on if there was a way to wire lets say the Rockford Fosgate p3ds2 8” which is dual ohm. I don’t really want to spend more money into replacing amps and all the speakers just because of one blown sub. Thanks!

 

I was thinking something like this, but I don’t have much audio knowledge. I know about the ohm rating and how to wire a dual 4 ohm sub to 2 ohm for the stock amplifier. But does the watt rms ratings really matter? This one is 150 watts rms and the stock amp produces less than that, is that an issue?

 

You’re right, you need the dual 4 Ω version of that sub, the JBL amp is 2 Ω stable. The power the JBL amp outputs is less than that sub can handle, so no problem there. The dual 4 Ω of that sub is the popular choice to stuff in the factory enclosure.
