I can't go to extreme off road myself unless I go with experienced group. I am beginner which I went off road once back in 2020.

I can go gravel or dirt trails, that's fine with me for myself or with group.

 

Installed a new TRD Pro air filter today. I know you can just clean and reuse them but that’s just not gonna happen for me lol

With your newer tire setup, are you still running your 5100s on the 4th clip for 1.55” of lift? I run the same suspension set up as you and will be in the market for new tires soon and really leaning toward a 285/70/17. My wheels are also similar specs as yours (4 runner Pro wheels with a +4 offset.)

 

Yep! Still on the 4th clip at 1.55”.

I have the tiniest bit of rubbing at like 3/4 turn in reverse, but it’s only in one little spot on my driver side. The tire rubs against the front fender. I haven’t even bothered to trim the fender because it only rubs like once a month.

 

So it rubs during "its cycle"?????

 

You could say that lol

I have to back out of my driveway at a very specific angle for it to rub, and even then it only rubs for like .0001 seconds.

 

Thanks and good to know! It’s hard to find good examples of Tacomas lightly modified for specific purposes such as yours. Thanks for the wealth of info on this thread. Now time to start deciding which tire…

Off topic, maybe, I was told my pup wants to go camping so I really need to get work harder on her training. Not that I’m going to camp this summer but maybe I can move things around in Oct and make it to AOAA

That would be awesome! I believe I’m going to be in Montana during AOAA this year (unfortunately/fortunately) so I can’t make it. I’m sure your pup would love it though.

 

I wonder if I can swing one of these events- while not new to off roading, getting “guided” training would be interesting.

 

I try to make the first event that is mentioned in the image. I try to finish here by then.

But on Sept 13, I can't make it, because it is a haunt season. I like that idea for training. I wish I could go.
