Yeah we had one who spent 22 years with us, and she was definitely like that towards the end.

Today has been devastating for us!both pretty much crying nonstop and second guessing our decisions.
For the last 5-6 days Louisa hadn’t been eating at all so we took her to the vet a couple days ago. The vet wasn’t overly concerned as her recent blood work looked really good. They treated her symptoms and said to bring her back in 2 days if there was no improvement. So today we took her back and they did an X-ray and it looked like she had eaten something and had a blockage. It appeared reflective on the X-ray like she had eaten part of a cat toy. The vet basically took her into surgery immediately and shortly after the vet called and gave us the worst news possible- cancer. The lymph nodes in her abdomen were so enlarged that even if they removed them the cancer would’ve been so wide spread at that point. The hard part is we didn’t get the chance to say good bye to her and tell her how much we loved her. She was such a great care giver to Albert when he got close to the end and also took great care of Amos when we brought him into our lives. The hard part is knowing I won’t ever wake up with her sleeping wrapped around my head purring away. She will always be in our hearts!!! I just hope she knows how much we love her!!!

I'm sorry to hear. I lost a 10 month old girl a month ago due to FIV. It wasn't easy. You can read up on it on reddit if you'd like to. I'll also link a couple of Ted talks by er vets I found comforting.

It always hurts so bad to loose one of our special members of the family. They give us years of love and companionship and they leave a void when they go.

Thank you for the links. When I feel I’m ready for it I’ll watch them for sure. Right now I can’t even look at pictures I have or her.

I just can never bring myself to "like this type of post". It just brings me deep sadness and honest to God tears to my eyes to hear things like this. But, I hope you understand about not liking the post?

So very sorry to hear of this. R.I.P. Louisa

Oh I totally get the concept! You want to “like” so the person knows that you get the concept but in this case not liking is also appropriate. so many of us here have shared our grief and sadness in our losses and being supported by this community helps us get through the sadness. I’ve been on both ends and have been in tears for those who’ve lost and now for our loss. The hardest part was not saying goodbye to her and thinking about what she was thinking and feeling. Days like these makes me to never want cats again but the reality is the great times so far outnumber the horrible ones. We’re just living through the latter right now.
