1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

I feel ya, and I’ve got mixed emotions about it too. I’ve been treated well and am thankful for the the security and cool opportunities afforded to me, but giving so much of myself to any entity like that is still… something.

I really miss being connected to the mission! When I started it was “giving the warfighter an unfair advantage,” who wouldn’t be gung ho about supporting that! But as I climb higher the unstated but clearly understood mission is “maximize bookings, sales, earnings and cash so we look good to the street”…

The huge selection of filaments is crazy

 

and I got a text that River fell hands first into a pile of dog poop on a walk. I find this equal parts hilarious and infuriating, people that don't pick up after their dogs should be stricken with E coli for the rest of their days.

 

That $800 head I posted the other day claimed to be from an engine with a balance shaft failure.

Fucking finally

Working in the garage, so I'm going back and forth in the house drawing stuff to cut out

End up getting stabbed with a bit of dross from one my test cuts (was moving shit around) and it had gone deep into my right thumb (thumb print)

Worst part was a piece broke off deep in my skin; 15mins of self mutilation and I finally got it out



Took a razorblade, a sewing needle, and careful placement of my wife's tweezers

 

Ouch...had that happen this weekend with the stupid fucking palm tree next to our driveway. Was cutting leaves off of it that were hitting the 4runner, didn't realize they had 6 in long steel knives at the base of the leaves. Stabbed my finger and broke the very tip off in it, had to dig it out with tweezers

 

I got to do it once when I was maybe 6 years old and loved it

 

Back to perusing 3 row hybrid SUVs....Grand Highlander looks like it's our best bet, MSRP ain't bad at all, considering the times...but I've read dealers put big markups on the new ones.

So I had tried my wife's tweezers cause she has a set that have sharp ends, but the metal was too deep

It was so deep, it didn't bleed at all until I forcibly stretched the skin and it would then gush out

Got a new razor blade trying to cut a slit across the entry point to get it out and nope

So Stephanie went to the nearby store and bought sewing needles and that finally did the trick

It sucked though cause it had already "closed" the wound from when she left and came back so I had to cut another slit and then stab myself with the needle multiple times

 

I had a pretty gnarly wooden sliver in my left calf from out raised garden barrier that I didn't know was in there for a couple days. Once I realized it was in there I was doing the same, slide the blade in and cut a slit for access all while my wife was watching love island right next to me trying not to look

 

Also confirmed we didn't have the dash cam running when we almost hit the bear on Friday

 

Yeah blood doesn't bother me one bit, and I guess it doesn't bother Stephanie at all either

We were shy of hitting up urgent care on account of how deep the metal splinter was, but all I kept telling myself is "I don't want to wait all freaking day just to get something pulled out" so I kept going at it

That suuuuucks
