Sorry for the late reply. I mounted them to where the OEM bump stop would normally hit the frame. I can’t recall if I needed to drill a hole for the stud or not, it’s been a little while since I did the lift. I know it looks dirty and it is. But I sprayed everything with fluid film when I installed the suspension to prevent corrosion so it’s collected a lot of dust.

Sumo Springs front and rear for me too. Had em on a few vehicles now. Wouldn't consider using factory bump stops again.

I know this thread is getting old, but maybe we can keep it going a few more years. Does anybody know if the GM bump stops mentioned here will work in the front position of a 3rd gen? I don't do any off roading and I can't see myself spending nearly 300 bucks on this. I have 5100 leveling struts on the 1.55" setting. I think I'm going to top them out and I'd like something better than the stock bumps without having to spend so much.

Oh there will be some mods all right
I haven't actually used these but a lot of people in the reviews say they will work. Some people say you have to go find the right bolts and some people don't mention it so I'm not sure what that's all about but there's a few guys running these I know for sure. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01E1SUO2A?ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Thanks for the recommendation. I like the look and price of the GM ones so I'm hoping someone else has tried them. I know at the least the tab will have to be bent down or removed.

GM rears work nice so far with ICON RXT and for resi 2.0. In the original GM link there are energy suspension fronts. This is what I did.

Are you running these on stock suspension height?

Well, ended up ordering PerryParts bumps for the rear. Have some issues with harsh bottom outs when carrying multiple bikes and gear, it doesn't happen regularly enough for me to justify new leafs just yet but that's definitely on the list once this thing gets paid off in 2 years here.

I am running them on stock rear suspension other than Bilstein 5160's. Up front I have the Perry Parts bump stops too, but on maybe 1.25 inches of lift on Bilstein 6112's.

As far as a hard bottom, it's tricky. I test muled (I paid for my first set and then shot him a message about some things I noticed) a few different compounds for rear bump stops for Patrick, and the best ones IMO were an "experimental" open cell design. He was worried that they would not have the longevity of the regular "hard shell" ones, though, if I remember right.

Either way, I've been super happy with the bump stops, but when my bed is empty and I hit abrupt cross gutters, washes, etc. I still hit hard bottom. Once I have camping gear, bikes etc. the extra weight seems to work a little better with the bumpstop compound and it's super progressive.

Makes sense about the softer compounds having shorter life spans. I think having a progressive bump stop under weight will help with the rebound of the 5100s I have in the back or at least deaden the impact a bit. Don’t really care about the occasional bottom out on road, especially out here in CO, it’s unavoidable.

Haven’t dug into it at all so I might just be talking out of my ass here but it almost feels like the beginning 3rd of the rebound from full bottom is faster than the rest of the travel on the 5100s. Figured for $100 it’s worth it to at least try them out.
