Got new LCAs & eccentrics bolts to install with these tires. Lookin forward to a nice smooth ride. I’ll have to update the trd bilstein pro shocks & coilovers in the future. Thinking maybe Fox 2.0 on all corners

Here’s the LCAs as of now

I’d love to pick up a Kei Japanese import, but with how old you have to get to register/import and not having airbags, I’d not want to be on the roads with all the crazy drivers. I almost got sideswiped this morning by an Altima yeeting around me ignoring my blinker to merge lanes.

Same. Plus they're pretty expensive for any in decent condition. $10k+.

I did put down a reservation deposit for the Slate truck, though. About as close as I'll get to a Kei truck.

This would be a good replacement for my DD/beater 2015 Leaf EV, except it only has front seats…I wonder if I could Subaru Brat-ify it…

No word on the price of the SUV conversion kit yet, but that does bring back seats into play for the Slate.

I thought I saw a blurb about Toyota working on a Subaru Brat. Probably would be better for Toyota sell that as a Subaru and keep all Toyota trucks as BOF only.

My imported Surf had airbags, depends on when in the last 25 years if the foreign made had airbags or not

was the reservation process pretty easy? the slate trucks look interesting and its tempting, especially with the modularity of it.

They market it as a sub $20k vehicle after federal rebates. Assuming those are still in tact by the time it comes out in Q4 of 2026

Man, these the Kei trucks are a HOT commodity right now. Tried to pick one up from Fairplay listed at 5k, messaged the lady 2 hours after she posted it and she got back to me 30 minutes later someone came by and paid her 9k for it. I'd never consider driving one of those things anywhere near Denver but for up here in summit they'd be perfect as a "daily"

Few things more dangerous than an Altima with an already busted bumper

Not sure how well-known this is, but Kei truck legality in Colorado was just formalized last month, although you might not actually be able to register one until 2028: https://www.cpr.org/2025/05/13/law-allows-japanese-mini-trucks-colorado-roads/

They'll only be allowed on roads with speed limits 55mph or lower.

The HiAce/Dyna/ToyoAce fire trucks aren't Kei trucks, they're just normal-sized trucks--more like a cabover box truck you'd see in the US.

They're small compared to US fire trucks, but aren't all that small compared to most other vehicles.

    upload_2025-6-25_21-47-53.png

There are kei fire trucks, they're very small.
