The service lady that got assigned to me is a sweetheart so I am hoping a Starbucks coffee and some charm will get me a new one. I will find out Friday.

What you need though is a Honey Badger - they just don't care! :)

She'll probably put you in the pain in the ass customer category when you show up with that coffee. Probably better off saving that coffee and charm and put that towards buying a battery.

edit: Group 35 agm at Walmart is $180. That'd be my pick.

I'm just thinking what it would be like if I gave the service advisor a coffee, she always seems busy as there are plenty of customers. There are plenty of Toyotas around that still see service center eork compared to the amount of dealerships.

I had to jump my truck to get it to my dealer. I left my jump box at home because I knew it would not start after being shut off.

I was prepared to ask, “how can I have a bumper to bumper warranty on a truck that will not start?”

My dealer was great and said I had a bad cell and gave me a free new battery.

Maybe the 4th gens are like my 100 series land cruiser. The 100 LC is known to kill batteries pretty fast. Not sure what modules cause the draw. If I don't drive my truck for 2 weeks it will likely be dead. I have to drive it at least once a week to keep it topped off.

Having it on a trickle charger, if sitting for extended periods, would be smart.

My truck had a failing/defective battery. Wouldn't take a full charge. Wouldn't hold a charge.

Dealer did a test on it. Replaced with a new one under warranty.

My 2015 X5 had its original battery for 10 years. I’ve replaced it in February this year for $600. My 2020 Subaru forester battery lasted for 5 years and was recently replaced for $450. I was told the auto start stop feature was the reason for the premature wear on the battery level. So I’ve turned it off on my forester.
I’m hoping the taco battery will last for 10 years also considering mine is a hybrid.

That's impressive. Across several vehicles over the years - none with auto start/stop - batteries generally last me four, maybe five years at best.

Google says 2025 Tacoma's are group 35. :notsure: My 3rd gen is a 24F. These Everstart agm's from Walmart have a 4 year free replacement warranty, are made in Korea and are under $200. A lot of people turn their nose, because it's Walmart. However, these are quality batteries.

Gotta check the stickers on them. I looked and looked for a Korean manufacture on mine in November, all I could find were Chinese ones. But it held up fine during the time I had it.

Yeah I don’t know. I first went to Walmart and their 2025 book stopped at 2023 for Tacoma so they were no help. Then I went to a local shop that I know the guys and he struggled finding what we needed but eventually said 24 F. Just going by that. I have no idea.

    This page:

    https://toyota.oempartsonline.com/oem-parts/toyota-truestart-battery-54424f60575

Says it fits 2024 Tacoma. It's a 24F based on the part number. If you Google part #00544-24F60-575, it also brings back 24F batteries.

I wonder if the owners manual would list it?
