1st Gen 3.4 Vacuum Hose Thread

Mine are still in great shape. After installing I notice a rapid "swooshing" sound under the hood I can't pinpoint, like a sucking wind sound. Has never affected anything, but sounds kinda funny at idle.

I think cracked hoses are causing my EVAP CEL

 

Could be, what's the CEL code?

 

Mine are holding up well even with the added heat and pressure from the Turbo if you're still wondering. I did swap out the Silicone lines going into the PCV valve and the rear crank case vent on the other side. I started seeing liquid seep through the PCV line so I switched to 3/8ths fuel line to prevent that from happening again. I might have some pictures of the seepage in my build thread somewhere with a better explanation of why Silicone lines aren't great for those specific spots but it boils down to fuel vapors and silicon not playing nice with each other

 

I had a similar problem with mine. I was getting a high idle I think. Took it to a mechanic they did a smoke test and the hose swap fixed the issue

 

Yup that’s what I had read was silicone hoses do not mate well for petrol based applications. Looks like I’ll get around to buying one of these kits soon.

 

Stumbled upon this thread which reminded me that I ordered this kit back in Feb 2019. Just found it sitting in a USPS box on a shelf in the garage. After reading through the thread, I saw that there was a problem with the silicone lines attached to the brake system collapsing causing braking issues. Has this for sure been fixed?

 

I'm still running these silicone hoses on the brake booster and I haven't noticed a problem - but maybe I'm just unaware. I do have a "swooshing" sound I can hear at idle since making the change.

 

When did you buy them?

 

5 or 6 years ago, according to my post history. I think the one hose I kept stock was the PCV hose.
