I hear @Aztec120 helps with camera installations for the price of a case of diapers.

Seriously though, he's an expert now and I really enjoy having mine, even in the mall parking lot so I can get within a centimeter of the Jeeps parked in front of me. Makes them nervous when they come out of the Yankee Candle store.

Now you have a reason to go back. Atigun Pass & the Brooks Range are truly spectacular. Sad to hear that you went all that way and missed it.

Atigun pass, first week of June 2003.

Awesome memories, eh? Adventures make life worth living, when you trade your 6's for 7's and faculties begin to ebb, better to have those precious memories than to have "I wish I woulda".

    Have fun at Magruder's

Hoping it’s open. Will check Thursday with FS. Crazy they got like 6+ inches of snow above 4000’ Sunday!

I recently heard something profound. Doesn't apply to me, but I know people who checked out rich and rarely did anything exciting.

    Very true.

I read this quote many years ago and have lived by it ever since:

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.

Montana trip is four days to departure (well, the actual destination is Washington, but the joy will be in Montana...)

Most of the packing is done. Most of the maintenance is done-My Locked Offroad shocks should be here Friday. Shouldn't be a big deal to change those out... Planning is done and maps are finalized. Have decided to take out half the rear seat for more space.

Not positive that my route is open yet over the Bitterroot Mountains on the Magruder Corridor: Idaho FS rep said no and Montana side FS person said yes. Guess I will find out when I get there. There will still be lots of snow either way as well as lots of class 3+ four wheeling. Should get some amazing pics and stories. Lots of high-altitude destinations and lakes to be fished.

Sharon is even excited and we have talked about the rough roads and such so she is prepared. Well, as prepared as she can be-she will be unhappy for short stretches of only a couple of days is my guess. Hoping to NOT use the winch (es). Wondering if I should waste the time cleaning the interior... but I will wash the outside before we go. Excited! Don't worry I will post pics/stories as I am able.

Pat, I hope the 2 of you have a great trip, and a safe one. Now remember to keep 2/3 tires on the ground.

Refresh my memory. Are there drain holes in there???
Uhh, otherwise, how did it get in there?

    I haven't looked in mine.

Edit: That's a cute jack. Would love to see you change a tire with it.....

I didn't think there were holes, but... clearly dirt yellow water got in.

Why do I keep the jack? I have a bottle jack in the back and I think you saw me change a tire in Kentucky with the HiLift. Nostalgia? No real purpose for that thing except ballast.

Those jacks are the cockroaches of the factory jack world. They haven’t changed in forever, they always work, they never leak, and they’re light.

And you can change any size tire with it so long as you’re patient and have some wood as a base for cribbing, or even the right rock will do. It doesn’t take much of a base to make it tall enough. I’ve seen mine extended, and let me tell you, I blushed. :p Heck, if you can fit it under the front control arms, you don’t even need anything.

I think they’re even bordering on desirable because most owners toss them and they’re not cheap to replace.
