Added a hps intake pipe, think it pairs well with my other mods, header, intake manifold spacer, charcoal filter delete, fender elbow delete. Has a nice but not obnoxious intake noise, feels like a few hp got let out of the stable and mpg is up a tick up as a bonus.

 Best Cold Air Intake made‼️

I don’t know if the 3rd Gen. has a cotton air filter. But if they do, this is what I have been doing for years.
Get two factory air filters, then every time I change the oil I change the air filter. I then take a large spray bottle fill it about a third full of liquid laundry soap and the rest water. Spray and soak the air filter with the mix let it set for a while then take a garden hose and rinse out the filter from the opposite direction of the airflow. I hang the filter on a wire coat hanger to let it dry. When it’s dry back in the box to save for the next oil change.

I was very surprised it added a nice stockish improved tone which i was hesitant. I did not want to hear a loud intake everyday and lets face it you need to work these engines to get going so a loud intake would get old quick. Since i have a tooter style manifold spacer i had to install the pipe with the box uncliped and yank it over and latch it. Going to get a spacer and a few extra clamps, my hope was with a little driving under tension with the heat of the engine bay it would slightly stretch to its longer shape. I currently have a afe filter but was thinking of going back to just factory filter nice tip

Yes! Definitely go back to the original / stock air filter as they are far superior for filtration!
As for the header hopefully you have the equal length LCE header! I hate to say this but if you remove the 2nd. clean up cat and replace it with a Magnaflow 5x8x14 or 18” (I recommend the 18” because in case you go w/ a cat back later on) you will feel a little bit more response. Don’t change the front because you will get check engine lights. As for cat backs please research them all to find the quietest one! Drone sucks on road trips!

On my 05 with the Magnuson supercharger I have a mandrel bent 304 TiG welded custom made system with a high flow cat a 5x8x14 (I should have used a 18”) and another 5x11x22 Magnaflow with a 2.5” hidden turn down at the far right corner of the bed. It was perfect until the supercharger, now I have drone.

And Yes I’m the Guinea pig for the newest Magnuson supercharger kit for a 2TR-FE.
Apparently Magnuson redesigned their supercharger to be more efficient and of course raised the price.
Boomslang sent the wrong harness for the Heltech elite 1500. So very little works on the track but the SpeedO brakes, stereo, alarm, lights and AC. The factory ECU is completely bypassed! Grrr…

That was my thought exactly better filtration, yes I have the LCE header and 5.29s also a tune too. I had two more mods if I keep it n/a that I wanted to do. 1 was an electric fan conversion, people use old Ford Taurus 2 speed fans and some Volvo relays with a bmw temp switch to turn high or low speed on. It’s a common mod in the hot rodder world and very reliable over some crap relay setup or aftermarket fan controller. 2nd was like you said removing the 2nd cat and installing a quiet flow muffler in its place. In theory since this engine is normally under high loads I could see that mod being beneficial but I am not sure if there will be gains or just a noise difference. I saw LCE’s video drop this week with your truck. It’s a great start but for the money I would expect bigger gains. More power is great but the entire reason most of us bought the 2TR was for reliability. The more junk we slap on the less reliable it gets kind of defeats the purpose. I would rather throw a 5.3 a cheap iron block 6.0 like the route you’re headed over a blower or turbo. I am a bit biased through having had a previous 4gen ws6 with a LS1 that had heads cam and on the bottle. The LS just can’t be beat in terms of size, availability, reliability, aftermarket support and price per hp

OMG, Ok guys time to fess up‼️
Also I don’t know how they only came up with only 30HP more when the stock engine is supposed to be 168 at the crank? When now it’s 200 WHP :notsure:

*EDIT* I guess I should read the title again! “30 more HP FROM a tune”….

I was asked what gas is in the tank? I told LCE “I topped off the tank in Phoenix this morning on the drive over”.
But here’s a secret it’s 87. Why, because I already have an LS swapped play toy and this 05 is my daily driver so I could care less about the power!! Premium here in the Phoenix area is a minimum of .60 to .99 cents more per gallon @ most stations are just over .75 cents per gallon. Plus the Snow water meth system was and is not working!!
Last time this system put out 222WHP on 91 and at approx. 9 lbs of boost.
I installed the snow water meth system but I pretty sure I have two wires crossed because the system is not working. I also didn’t have time to install the door panels, the 3.58 gear w/ the TrueTrec for the 28.8” rubber or suspension as in front coil overs and some 2” rear lowering blocks. Yes I’m gone the opposite direction of 99% of the members here, my 4x4 days are behind me…
My wife finally retired and hopefully we might be moving to Prescott, AZ. or Bentonville, AR. so we can get out of this convection oven heat and I can enjoy riding my MTB’s again.

    Ok guys,
As suspected I had two wires crossed for a boost gauge on the Snow 2.5 system that operates the Snow water meth system. After making sure the Nozzle was spraying mixture I pulled the plug and installed the nozzle. Then adjusted the gauge to start spraying @ 1 psi and full volume at 8 psi. I went for a little test drive. I didn’t see more than 5 lbs of boost. Now know I absolutely was not happy whatsoever with this system and actually hated it. I asked LCE GM to please find someone else as my Daily Driver was just fine for my needs. But they insisted they wanted me as I would report issues, ideas and concerns but I also would give them the positive things I liked.
Now I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA IF THIS IS PLACEBO or real butt Dyno working. But the power is now there‼️ Again I don’t know how injecting a little water and meth would make this much difference but I swear it does. But again it could be 99% placebo w/ 1% actual HP. All I know is now I’m pretty happy with the system. It sometimes still stumbles just after the gear shift when shifting like an old man.
I’m still waiting for the new Boomslang harness so my dash gauges & cruise works. I drive with my fingers every time I can.

Cold air equals more dense air. The meth kit greatly reduces charge air temps.

Imagine if the boost was back up to 9, and you had 91 in there.....

Don't over do it, or you'll be replacing the elastic head bolts with studs. They stretch pretty easily.

Yes it does along with a 2.5” 304 SS mandrel bent exhaust system with a high flow cat (I don’t like watering eyes pulling out & into the garage) and two large Magnaflow mufflers plus modifying air box w/ a clean stock cotton air filter.

Oh, trust me I know but like I said before I already have a Taco / Toy with more power than I can use.
So that’s why I filled the tank with 87 and told them absolutely no more than 7 lbs of boost!
You think you make a budget then multiply that by 3 or more! My LS swapped Taco drain the funds and then some. Because I knew it was above my skill level and I don’t have the proper tools / equipment for the install. The guy I hired had less skills than me and didn’t give a Fuck, just get it running. I hired him because of his wiring skills but I found out he was a BS master! Oh, found another reason why I was having Oil Pressure issues. Look closely at the picture below he left packing tape somewhere in the oil pan. I used a pair of long nose pliers and pulled out the tape and you can see the wire screen imprint in the whole piece of tape‼️ Look where it ended up! :frusty:

He thinks, I’m Bull Shitting him about taking his fucking ass to court. The lawyer I hired cost me $260 just for the consultation.

Again I know plus I had LCE install ARP head studs. ARP doesn’t list studs for the 2TR-FE but they make them for an earlier Toyota engine and they are the same bolts / studs from what I was told…

    Ok, but I’m pretty sure I said;
“ARP doesn’t list studs for the 2TR-FE but they make them for an earlier Toyota engine”…

I don’t know about you but I don’t see them listed here? But I’m not an expert like some around here and I do need another eye exam for glasses…

Oh, and those who are thinking the Magnuson kit only added 30whp read the title again. It says; “30 more HP from a tune…”

Lol no one around here is claiming to be an expert. Just trying to help others who may read your post and think the head studs for our motor don’t exist. Just because ARP doesn't list them doesn't mean they aren't available. Everyone with a boosted 2TR should consider them to avoid head gasket issues down the road.
