That is how I understood it as there is already power coming in on those 2 wires to power the backlight full time, which to me, they need to be cut as you would not want to splice into them and add another power source

Anyone know if that wiring harness includes wires to tap into to use the window fold button for the heated side view mirror mod?

I used the mirror fold switch and wires to activate a timer, which sends current to the heated mirrors via a relay.

Interesting, so the switch doesn't stay depressed after you press it? Is there a special type of relay for the timer?

You have to clip a piece which turns it into a momentary switch. There are a few timers. I do not have the link handy but if you look up 4Runner mirror or heated mirrors there are some write ups.

The harness must not be connecting the pins on the new switch to the original connector. This thread will give you the pinout of the connector/Tacoma switch. You'll have to figure out the pinout of the new switch and make sure the harness is connecting the correct pins on the switch to the correct pins in the dash.

I had a look at the prius wiring diagram. The Tacoma and Prius function is the same, as you would expect. If both mirrors can be selected and you can move them both up and both right, the power and ground must be connected correctly. I would suggest back probing the switch to make sure it is functioning correctly. See link in #75 above.
